PATRICK JEROME MONTEZ
August 22, 1958 ~ July 31, 2019
Patrick “Pat” Montez, 60 was called home to heaven unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, July 31, 2019. Patrick was born, raised, and resided in his home in Santa Fe, NM until his passing. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rose Montez and Joe Eloy Montez.
Patrick worked for the New Mexico Museum System as a security guard for many years. He also worked for the Santa Fe Public School system as a custodian as well as had some of his own janitorial ventures.
Patrick was a man of deep faith. He had a deep love for the Blessed Mother, whom he called his “Momma Mary”, as well as the Holy Spirit. He had a gentle and loving heart. His soft smile would light up a room and his joyful nature permeated his surroundings. He touched the lives of everyone he met. He also had a deep love and respect for nature and animals.
He leaves behind his sisters; Theresa Montez and Mary Susan Montez; his brothers; Joe A. “Michael” Montez (Diane), David Montez, and John Montez; nieces, Montessa Valdez, Margaret Colette Herrera (Neal), Michelle Montez (Toby), and Melissa Montez; nephews, Leon Montez (Manda), Matthew Herrera, Marc Montez (Monica), and Adam “Chris” Montez (Trish), numerous great nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece. He was very close to one of his great nephews, Isaiah Herrera. He is also survived by numerous friends and family, including childhood best friend Jerome Gomez.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Monday, August 12, 2019 at St. Anne Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at St. Anne Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Rosario Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Marc Montez, Chris Montez, Dominic Valdez, Leon Montez, Joshua Montez, and Isaiah Herrera. Honorary Pallbearers include Matthew Herrera, Zachariah Herrera, Andres Montoya, Lythaniel Montez, and Jerome Gomez.

RIP Tio. Your passing has been so hard on all of us. You were a bright light, especially in my life. As much as I know I'm grieving, there is a big part of me that is happy because I know you are in heaven with grandma, grandpa, Momma Mary and her Son, Jesus. Thank you for being such a huge part of my life. I'm so blessed to have been able to call you not only my uncle, but my friend, guide, healer, protector, and father. You filled all those holes in my life and so much more. I'm so grateful I have so many memories of you, the best one will always be your gentle smile and how you used to carry me as a child. You were an extraordinary man living an ordinary life. I miss you so very much. Thank you for all your love and care. Love you always Tio.
