Teresita Maria Ella Martinez

Teresita Maria Ella Martinez

August 29th, 1927 - May 7th, 2019

Biography

On May 7, 2019, Teresita (Terry) Martinez, soft spoken matriarch of the Martinez Family, ascended to heaven to be with the Lord and the love of her life, her husband Augustine (Gus) Martinez. On earth, she loved gardening, growing a myriad of flowers at her home; she loved clothes, and chose those that accented her beauty and taste; she loved dancing. On Friday nights Gus and Teresita would dance at the American Legion to the music of many well-known singers and bands. She was known in the Española valley for her love of socializing and being around people she loved and enjoyed. Having worked for TG&Y for many years, she knew almost all of the residents of Española and those of the surrounding areas and towns.

Together, Teresita and Gus raised five children, Donald, David, MaryBeth, Martín Geraldo and John. Teresita has nine grandchildren: (Mary Beth) Andrea Vigil; (Martín Geraldo) Reina, Martín, and Angela Martinez; (David) Tómas and Esteban Martinez, Jeff and Patricia Diaz; and (John) Juanito Martinez. All of whom they were very proud of and loved deeply by them.

She is preceded in death by her parents and all her brothers and sisters. She will bring much joy to all those that were waiting for her in heaven. Heaven can only be more beautiful with her there.

A rosary will be recited on Sunday, May 12, 2019, 7:00 PM at the Rivera Family Funeral Home Chapel, Espanola, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 13, 2019, 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Santa Cruz, NM. Interment will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Our 'Tia' was a kind, loving and beautiful woman. I will always cherish the fond memories of her and her family as we grew up together in San Pedro. I would visit with David, Donald, Marybeth, Gerald and my uncle Gus. We would enjoy the old Crab Apple tree at uncles Luis. They are all beautiful memories. God rest your soul auntie. I love you Eddie Rodriguez and Connie.
