Forever in Our Hearts
On May 30,2022 Aurelia (April) M. Gallegos gained her angel wings surrounded by her family. Aurelia was preceded in death by her daughter, Juanita(Jane) Gallegos, her parents Eduardo and Floripe Mercure, sister Ercilia and brother Miguel Mercure.
Those left behind to grieve her loss are her husband of 61 years Jose Ralph Gallegos, 3 daughters Sarah Gallegos(Leonard) , Faye Anderson(Allen), Lora Lopez(Eric), son Eliseo Gallegos(Cathy), Juan Vigil. Grandchildren Afften Gallegos(Juan), AJ Osuna, Jenna Osuna(Jesse), Gabrielle Burdette (Scott), Briana Esquivel(PJ), DeAna Lopez, Mia Vigil. Andrew Anderson (Amy), Great Grandchildren Cortez, Allison, Kashlynn and Kyros, Jackson Burdette, and Alayah Esquivel. Her sisters Crisanta Martinez(VR), Virginia Mercure, sister-in-law, Annie Mecure, brothers Onil Mercure, Delfin Mercure(Sylvia), Vicente Mercure(Baudelia) , Robert Mercure and a cousin raised like a brother Elipio Mercure. Sister-in-laws Deliria Cordova(Jerry),Rufina Sandoval(Levi), Rose Martinez, and Fabiola Montoya(Robert). Numerous cousins God children, nieces and nephews.
In her early years, April loved Bingo and later was an avid casino enthusiast. She loved her honey and was left broken hearted and lonely when he was taken to a nursing home due to his dementia. Up until her taking a turn for the worse she was sure she could still care for him and wanted to take him home to Chama.
The family would like to thank our Chama community that looked after her as her children no longer live in the area. We would like to specifically thank Elisha Gallegos, Rufina Sandoval, Cristella and Martin Gallegos and Terry Rivas. You all are our angles and we will forever be indebted to your kindness, love and support of our madrecita.
Pallbearers are Edward Mercure, Marvin Mercure, Eugene Mercure, Vicente Mercure Jr., Jesus Martinez, Daniel Gonzalez
Honorary Pallbearers Leonard Vigil, Allen Anderson, Eric Lopez, Anthony James Osuna, Kyros Hathcock
Services will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022 from the San Jose Parish in Los Ojos, New Mexico with the rosary at 10AM followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 11AM. The interment will follow mass.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Rivera Family Funerals & Cremations of Espanola, New Mexico.
