Barry “Bear” Donovan Lindsey, 72, of Angel Fire passed away on November 23, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Gail Lindsey, sons, Barry “BJ” Lindsey (Annie) and Brian Lindsey (Mari), grandchildren, Cole, Caroline and Bear Lindsey, loving niece, Crista Allen, brothers in law, Edd Geoffroy (D.J.) and Joe Geoffroy (Barbara), special nieces, nephews and friends.
Barry “Bear” was a big man with a big heart and a big love for his family. He was known for his big “Bear” hugs. Bear was a lifelong seeker of knowledge and spiritual truth. He was passionate when it came to sharing how God worked in his life.
Bear was a proud Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam era. He loved his country. He was also known for his ability to tell a good joke or story and make it relatable to the present moment
He had a wide variety of life experiences and interests from riding horses and raising Grand Champion pigs, as a youth, to working on the family feedlot and farm. He was fascinated with computers and technology and had one of the first home computers in 1978. He liked to say he crammed four years of college into twelve years. He became a college graduate after starting a family, graduating from West Texas State University with a business and finance degree.
Bear worked in the trucking industry for many years and was involved in all aspects of the business from long haul driving and sales to owning his own business. He especially enjoyed the relationships he built and the customer service he provided.
His dream to retire in Angel Fire, NM manifested when he and Gail moved in 2013 to be near the kids and grandkids. He continued to pursue his interest in web design, and worked from home, building and maintaining websites for clients in Texas and New Mexico.
Bear was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Hildon and Helen Nadine Downing Lindsey, his brother Robert Eugene Lindsey and a sister Deborah Sue Karber.
He and Gail were known as Granbear and Honey. His absence leaves a big hole in the hearts of family and dear friends.
Memorial services were held on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the United Church of Angel Fire, 40 West Ridge Road, Angel Fire, NM and on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2525 Wimberly Road, Amarillo, TX.
In memory of Barry, donations may be given to the United Church of Angel Fire.

Although I haven’t seen Barry since our high school days, we had stayed in touch via FB. He was always a nice, warm and caring guy in HS and I could tell he had only grown through life’s trials and tribulations that he shared. He will be so missed!! Prayers for those close ones who will miss his big hugs!!
