Dearest Uncle Dale,
I would like to fulfill a promise that I made to you some 20 years ago…
I remember leaving for a family gathering at Aunt Sharon’s that afternoon, excited at the thought of playing Barbies with Shelley, eating green marshmallow salad and drinking canned pop, but mostly anticipating seeing you again. Although we did not see you often, there was always a comfortable familiarity about you. I was drawn to your welcoming hugs, your smiling eyes, and your jovial spirit.
I had remembered years before at Grandma’s house on Newark St, when you brought home the most striking lady and introduced to us, Aunt Linda. How I looked at her fondly and how happy you both seemed. This time you brought home your baby girl Jessica.
Our visits were always brief and I remember feeling sad as my siblings and I dutifully made our rounds with farewell hugs and kisses.
“I love receiving mail,” were your words to me as you gave me a big bear hug. Ten feet tall you stood before me, in the eyes of a ten year old girl looking at her uncle whom she barely knew ,but loved so dear.
“I promise.” I replied, and “Good bye.”
So now, some 20 years later, I am writing to you a fond farewell, as you’re reunited with your beloved Mother, our sweet Grandma, and your brother, Uncle Barrie.
To Aunt Linda and Jesse, our thoughts are with you as you travel down the road of acceptance. May you find comfort and strength in your family and friends ; and may you seek solace in your memories.

Dearest Linda
I am sitting here reading the condolences with a heavy heart and thinking of you. I cannot even beging to put into words how thankful we your family in Cornwall are for the love and caring you gave to our brother. Because of you he was able pass in pease in the place where he loved so much with you by his side. Remember when we think of Dale we think of you [you are one] we love you. your family for ever.

Dear Aunt Linda and family,
I will always remember Uncle Dale's smile and laugh. Whenever he came to visit it was such a joyous time for everyone in the family. It seemed like people could sit and listen to Uncle Dale's jokes and stories for hours. He really seemd to have Grandma's spirit in him - lover of life, free spirit, caring soul.
My thoughts are with you and with all of the family.

I cannot honestly say that I knew my uncle Dale very well. The last time I saw him was at a gathering a few years back at D.J. and Trudy's house--he was happy and healthy. He showed a lot of interest when I described to him my direction in school and was quick to offer any help he could. I know this is simply a tiny example of who Dale really was--a kind and caring man. Our thoughts are with all of the Cameron family in this time of sadness. His memory will live on.

Dearest Dale;
I want to tell you how thankful I am for the time that Pat and I shared with you and Linda. Our time spent watching the sun rise over the mountain, viewed from your backyard, made me see the beauty and feel the peace that it brought to you and Mom.
Words cannot express the pride I felt seeing you fight so hard to try to beat this disease. Your determination and desire to live was the result of your appreciation for life and the love you had for and recieved from your family.

Dearest Uncle Dale you willbe missed by many for you have been loved by many you have touched so my people's hearts. I was so saddened to learn of Dale's passing. My deepest sympathies to Linda, Jessica and the entire Cameron family. I have fond memories of Dale coaching Taos Youth Hockey, when Clay, my son was a member of the team. Dale was so committed to those kids and the team. A friend of mine and I were reminising today of hockey and particularly about the Taos Youth Hockey meetings and Dale's spirited participation and his committment to seeing hockey flourish for the kids of this community. The Taos Ice Tigers and Taos Youth Hockey are beneficiaries of his dedication to the sport. I will continue to pray for all of you that the Lord will give you peace and surround you with His love and grace today and the days to come.

Shared with the sorrow of losing a brother, are the thoughts of your greater sadness in losing a life partner.
I am so thankful for the few days we spent together, re-affirming the bonding with my big brother was only one of the relationships that were strengthened during that short visit.
