Doris K. Hughes

January 19th - December 2nd, 2018

Biography

Doris K. Hughes, 78, passed away at home on Sunday December 2, 2018 in Los Alamos, New Mexico. She was born in January to Luther and Helen Knicley in Cazenovia, New York. She later married Norval Hughes in December 1961. In her more recent years, Doris volunteered at The Lobby Shop at Los Alamos Medical Center. On any given Tuesday or Friday you could find her at the Big Rock Bowling Alley in Espanola, NM where she loved to bowl and compete with her teammates. Her other hobbies included crocheting, reading, time with friends and tending to her plants. But her true passion was her family and spending as much time with them as she could. She will be dearly missed by her family and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Helen and her late husband, Norval. Survivors include her three children: Son, Mark Hughes and his wife Laura of Los Alamos, Son, Randy Hughes and daughter, Nora Hughes Weeks and husband David of Colorado; 5 grandchildren: Justin Hughes, Bradley Hughes, Cara & James Bingham, Ashley Hughes and Olivia Weeks; 3 Great Grandchildren: Zachary, Abel, and Aaliyah Bingham; Sister, Helen Fieser of NY and Brother, Donny Knicley of FL. as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. A memorial service will be announced at a later date for family and close friends. The family gratefully declines flowers and donations at this time, but instead condolences and memories are gladly accepted at www.riverafamilyfuneralhome.com.

Laura and family,
My heart hearts for your loss of Doris. Doris was a true friend, spoke her mind, and was not a pushover. You always knew where she was coming from, and I loved that about her. I will miss her, and she will remain in my thoughts forever.
Our deepest condolences to all her family! May she continue her feistiness in her new world. ❤️
