Biography
Enedina M. Varela, 78, a longtime resident of Pojoaque, NM, passed away peacefully in the early hours of July 5. Enedina is preceded in death by her husband, Nepomuceno Varela, parents, Jose A. and Josefina Madrid, her son, Juan De Dios Varela, and two grandsons, Eric A. Varela and Oscar S. Rivera.
She is survived by her sons, Joel and Elier Varela, and daughters Flor, Maribel, Anna, and Magaly Varela. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Enedina was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a cook at Poswageh Restaurant in Pojoaque for more than 20 years, and was widely known in the area for her famous sopaipillas. She was a devoted follower of the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Congregation in Arroyo Seco throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, and spending time with her family and her religious brothers and sisters. Enedina fought a courageous battle with cancer.
The visitation will be held at the Rivera Family Funeral Home on July 17, at 10:00am. Following the visitation, a burial service for family and close friends will take place at the Pojoaque Cemetery at 3:00pm.
The Varela family would like to extend a special thank you to the personnel at Compassus Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Enedina, as well as to the Rivera Family Funeral Home for their professional and caring assistance. We also thank Pojoaque Pueblo for their unconditional love and support for the Varela Family for the last 34 years.

She was a kind, loving person who I am glad to have worked with at Po'suwaegeh Restaurant in the early 90's. May Mrs. Varela "Fly High With The Angels." Que descanse en paz....
