We Love You, We Miss You
Esmeralda Maria Vialpando 73, resident of Chama, New Mexico passed unexpectedly on February 20, 2021 at 7:45pm. She was welcomed by her parents, Amarante and Elicia Martinez on June 06, 1947 in Truchas, New Mexico.
Esmeralda married the love of her life Ruben, on December 17, 1977 in Espanola, New Mexico. She was a devoted wife, mother, grand & great-great mother, and friend.
Esmeralda spent most of her life with family, and exploring the outdoors. Ruben and Esmeralda traveled wherever the road could take them, whether it was fishing, camping, pinon picking, or just being with her family. She loved to do various crafts, and was very talented in anything that took a lot of patience. She loved to capture memories, by taking lots of pictures. It did not matter what it was, just to capture the moment. Esmeralda will be so greatly missed by al who knew and loved her.
Esmeralda is preceded in death by her parents; Amarante and Elicia Martinez of Cordova, NM. Son; Larry Joseph Martinez of Espanola, NM, great grandson; Gabriel Harris of Fort Wayne, IN, brother; Remijillo Martinez of Grants, NM, sister; Gloria Martinez of Albuquerque, NM, and many nephews.
Esmeralda is survived by her loving husband of nearly fifty years Ruben Vialpando from Chama, NM. Daughter; Phyllis Martinez from Chama, NM her son; Lesley Rael of Vallecitos, NM. She is also survived her grandchildren; Jerranda- Harris Shurtliff (Joe) of Albuquerque, NM Jerome Martinez of Chama, NM Billy Martinez of Tacoma, WA. Great grandchildren; Nicholas Harris of Albuquerque, NM, Helayna and Liliana Martinez of Tacoma, WA. Sisters; Audilla Guerrero (Lupe), Joann Quintana, Eileen Martinez (Anthony) of San Diego, CA. Rachel Gonzales, and Frances Trujillo of Albuquerque, NM. Close family friends; Archie and Patsy Vigil of La Puebla, NM.
Pallbearers; Lesley E. Rael, Toby Ray Quintana, and Joe Shurtliff.
Honorary Pallbearers; Diego Gonzales (god-son), and Patrick Vigil.
The holy rosary will be prayed for Esmeralda at Rivera Family Funeral Home in Espanola on Tuesday, March 02, 2021. (This is a private event)
Christian rite of burial mass will be held at the Santa Cruz Holy Cross chapel on Wednesday, March 03, 2021 at 12:00PM. (This is a public service)
A private family burial well be held after the mass at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
