Forever in our Hearts
Larry Reed Orton 82 peacefully left this earth on August 28, 2019 and went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Larry was born September 13, 1936 in Pueblo Colorado as Lyle Duane Briscoe.
He was adopted when he was 9 months old by Reed and Agnes Orton. Larry and his parents lived briefly in Antonito, Colorado where his father and grandfather ran a grocery store. They moved to Española, NM in 1949 when he was in the sixth grade. Larry graduated from McCurdy High School in 1956. Larry was in the US Navy from 1958 to 1962 spending three years in Puerto Rico where he repented of his sins and asked Jesus to become Lord of his life.
He met Patricia Ann Lively in 1962 in Denver Colorado where they worked together at Rocky Built Hamburgers. They got married on October 25, 1963 and they raised their family in Denver. Larry returned home to Española in 1989 to take care of his mother. Larry loved others and drove people to kidney dialysis with renal transport. He was also a people greeter/cashier at Sam's Club in Santa Fe then in Walmart in Española. He retired in 2016 and was a volunteer at the coffee spot in the Española Hospital until his death.
Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents lovingly known as Pap and Granny his parents Reed and Agnes Orton and his wife Patricia. Larry is survived by his sister-in-law Velma Briscoe and her family David, Christina, Keith, Bruce, and Jennifer of Pueblo Colorado. Also by his daughter Linda Kilmer of Tucson AZ, his daughter Irene Coronado and her husband Robert and grandson James Sterling of Española NM and his daughter Rebecca Goar and granddaughter Melody Orton of Tucson AZ.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Internment Monday September 16, 2019 at 3PM Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM

Please accept our most sincere condolences on the death of Larry. We've known him a long time. I had the pleasure of working with him for over 16 years. He always invited us to vacation Bible school which we loved. Him and my father were good friends. May he now be at home with our heavenly father.
