Nancy Nachbar Tetenbaum, 75, of El Prado, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 13th. She was a New Yorker through and through, lived in Texas, Nebraska, Pennsylvania and in Taos for 18 years, with Taos her favorite home. She was married to Jeff for 54 years and is survived by her husband, daughters, Jennifer and Betsy and grandsons, Noah, Jesse and Sam. She had many interests - She designed her home in Taos, was an avid reader, knitter, hiker, traveler, baker and gardener. She served on boards in Taos and in other locations. She joined Pet Partners and with her dogs, Izzy and Baxter, worked with children that had difficulty or couldn't read. She was a stunning woman, dependable, gracious, honest and direct. She was truly one of those special individuals who made others feel better after connecting with her. She will be missed by many.
If you wish to honor Nancy's memory with a gift, please consider a donation to either Planned Parenthood or the Taos Jewish Center.
The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at 11 AM at Rivera Chapel in Taos with interment to follow at the Eretz Shalom Cemetery in Ranchos De Taos

We are very sad to learn of Nancy’s passing. She was a lovely person always so cheerful and engaging. We so enjoyed our hikes together back in the days. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

I met Nancy and Jeff shortly after moving into my new house in the area in Sept.2021. Our dog walks often coincided. She always shared one of Baxter's treats with my dog Lola. They were aware that I had recently lost my husband two weeks prior to moving into our dream home. They were most kind and supportive. Nancy once told me that she could not imaging living alone. I am so happy that she did not have to. I am so sorry that Jeff has to experience that tremendous void. Although I did not know Nancy that long, I immediately knew what a kind, generous and thoughtful soul she was. She truly contributed to making the world a better place. I am so grateful that our paths crossed. My deepest condolences to Jeff and the rest of the family.
