RAYMOND MAESTAS, 67, of Truchas, NM, passed away early Monday, October 18, 2021, his family by his side, in his sleep following a battle with COPD. He was born January 26, 1954 in Fairview, NM, the son of Joe Albert Maestas an Amelia Romero Maestas. He worked as an Electrical Engineer for Los Alamos National Lab until his retirement. He took pride in his job and loved working at the lab.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Joe and Amelia Maestas and a sister, Lillian Maestas, all from Truchas.
Raymond is survived by his only-child-daughter, Cynthia and husband Bernardo. They have cared for him in his difficult illness up until his passing. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Beverlie Maestas (Jose Luis), grandsons, Ryan and Cody Bybee, and Justin Araujo, all of Santa Fe; and his great-grandchildren, Brandon, Luis and Destany Zambrano, all of Santas Fe; his sister Belinda (Henry), and nieces Elizabeth (Mike) and Audrey Dominic all of Albuquerque; his special friend and ex-wife, Beverly Maestas (Miguel) and ex-son-in-law Bobby Bybee.
His family expresses their appreciation to Sonia Armijo, Tom, and Nurse Maye with Giving Home Health, and to the staff of Compassus Hospice
A Rosary will be recited at 5:30 pm Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Rivera Family Kiva of Light Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Friday, October 22, 2021 at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church. Private Family Interment services will take place at a later date at The Truchas Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Bernardo, Ryan, Cody, Bobby, Luis, and Juan, and Honorary Pallbearers include Justin, Brandon, Luis, and Destany

My deepest sympathy to Raymond's family. My parents, Cosme and Carmelita Romero, were my cousin's Godparents. I remember Raymond when he was a little boy and those are the memories I will cherish when I think of him! May he rest in peace and may God keep him in his arms through eternity!
