Biography


Betty Rose Scott, age 88 passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019.


Betty was born on December 23, 1930.  She was married to Virgil W. Scott on April 21, 1948 4/21 in Alton, Illinois


She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Lavey; Mother, Elizabeth Beiser; Daughters, Sandra Embry, and Kathleen Gibbons; Many other family and extended family member.


Betty is survived by her daughter/Caretaker: Kimberly Scott of Los Alamos, NM; Son and Daughter in-law: Paul and Nelda Scott of Cleburne, TX; 16 Grandkids, 22 Great Grandkids and 3 Great Great Grandkids.  Jolyn McTeigue was Betty's daytime care taker for nearly 2 years. She was such a blessing to both Betty and Kim.  Two of the best life long friends, Lyle and Peggi Edwards of Los Alamos, NM. They were great friends for 53 years and shared many fun memories.


In 1948 Betty and Virgil met and married soon after. They shared 68 years together.  In 1959 Virgil heard about the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory and moved the family there from Illinois.  Virgil and Betty raised 4 kids and spent the next 57 years together in Los Alamos.  Betty was such a sweet and caring Mom and Grandmother. Betty never met a stranger, she was friends with everybody. She brought life and light everywhere she went.  Everyone she met felt the same. Betty worked for Los Alamos National Laboratory for 20+ years. She volunteered in the Lobby Shop at Los Alamos Medical Center. Betty was an Immaculate Heart of Mary Parrishiner for 59 years.  When the church started the Perpetual Adoration, she took the 11:00am hour every Monday, and helped count the collections on Sunday's.  The Scott family has so many wonderful memories of her.  She is so loved and will be missed very much. 


A Rosary will prayed at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parrish in Los Alamos, NM.  Tuesday July 16, 2019 at 7:00pm


The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parrish in Los Alamos, NM.  Wednesday July 17, 2019 at 10:00am.  Reception to follow at the Parrish Hall, approximately 11:15am.


Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday July 22, 2019 at 1:30 PM

Betty was my godmother. She was a great lady, very personable. The last time I saw her and Virgil was when I stopped by their house when I was discharged from the service. She was my mothers best friend at once point and they had many great memories. RiP Betty and Virg.
