William Francis Arko, 62, of Eagle Nest passed away from a tragic accident on November 13, 2019. He is preceded in death by his son, Scott Arko, parents, Lorene and Leo Arko and sister, Janet Arko Johnson. He was born and raised in Eagle Nest, NM before joining the U.S. Army for 4 years in Washington. After returning from his service in the Army, William worked in the Moreno Valley area for the remainder of his life as a father, brother, and a dear friend to the community. He enjoyed spending his time contributing to the community by cutting trees, reducing the prairie dog population, spending time at the lake, and snowmobiling. William is survived by his son Brian, his brothers and sisters, Agnes Gibson (Scott) of Eagle Nest, NM, Anna Pabst (Mike) of Roswell, NM, Ernie Arko (Barbara LeBeck) of Albuquerque, NM, brother in-law, Richard Johnson, Michael Arko of Monroe, LA, Leo Arko (Barbara) of Eagle Nest, NM, Rita Butts (Michael) of Welch, MN, Nina Arko-Hay (Kenneth) of Nambe, NM, David Arko (Sharon) of Ft. Collins, CO, longtime co-workers at Kit Carson Electric Cooperative and many other relatives and friends.
Rosary will be recited on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 9:30 AM at St. Mel’s Catholic Church in Eagle Nest with funeral mass to follow at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held at the E Town Cemetery in Elizabethtown. Reception will follow at the Eagle Nest Community Center.

I had worked on Willie’s crew for a short time and remember his unique sense of humor and strong work ethic. My deepest condolences to his family and to his extended family at the CO-OP. Rest In Peace Willie.

I am sorry for your loss. Willy had a unique personality and that is what made him a special person. He would always be making wise cracks. He was a great worker who loved working hard. I will miss working with him. We had one thing in common our love for sweets especially ice cream. Rest easy my friend.

William was one of the genuine people of the Valley. Always interested in how others were faring in life, always there to lend a hand to friends and strangers alike...just a kind man with a good heart. My sympathies to all the Arko Family.

To the arkos family, l grew up with the Arko family. I remember William very well growing up with him and his family. He was quite guy if I remember right. Time goes by so fast. His brother Ernie and went to school together and college at highlands University. I could go and on about William and his family. My wife Judy and myself gave or sympathy to the Arko family and friends. William was a awesome guy. AMEN.
