Sandra Ames

Sandra Ames, 75 passed away peacefully on October 30, 2015 after a prolonged illness. Sandy was preceded in death by her sister Jackie Sparks and her parents Marge and Tom Howard. She is survived by her husband Lauren and their children Scott
Ames, Jennifer Myller, and Susan Garlock and eight wonderful grandchildren.

Sandy was born June 24, 1940 in Michigan City, Indiana. She met her husband Lauren when she was a flight attendant in Buffalo, New York and Lauren was working there as a chemical engineer They met on a blind date Memorial Day 1961 and were married on Labor Day of that year. Shortly after being married, Sandy followed Lauren through Naval officer training after which they moved to the San Francisco bay area where Lauren was stationed on the USS Hancock. Since discharge from the Navy they have lived in Denver, Cheyenne and Santa Fe.

In her 30 years in Santa Fe, Sandy had many friends who will miss her. She was active in the St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary for several years and was a member of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. She loved sewing and made dozens of quilts and garments that she passed on to her family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, December 4, 2015 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, with interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 PM that day. In lieu of any flowers or other signs of love for Sandy she requested that donations be made to the Carmelite Monastery.
