Allen Sultan age 92 of Santa Fe, NM passed away on Friday, November 28, 2022. Allen was born on Sunday, February 2, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York to Jack Sultan and Bessie Leinwand.
He is preceded in death by his Father, Jack S. Sultan, Mother, Bessie Leinwand and his brother, Stanley Sultan.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Sultan, and daughter, Laura Sultan and her husband, Oren Greenberg, grandson, Dov Sultan-Greenberg, and granddaughter, Athena Sultan-Greenberg. His former wife, Jane Marie Hunt, and son, Paul Sultan and his wife Katie Guo, and Jay Sultan, his wife Nichole Hornish, grandson Elijah Sultan, and granddaughter, Grace Sultan.
He joined the United States Army on October 2, 1952 during the Korean war, and attained the rank of Corporal. He was honorably discharged on August 17, 1954.
He attended Columbia University School of Law for his J.D., New York University for his L.L.M. as a Ford Fellow, and University of Chicago for his Master's in International Relations.
He taught American constitutional, criminal law, and international law at Oklahoma University School of Law, Emory University School of Law, Indiana University School of Law, University of Detroit School of Law, and University of Dayton School of Law.
He was awarded Fulbright teaching scholarships at Clermont-Ferrand Universite´ École de Droit - Université Clermont Auvergne, in Auvergne, France and also at Hiroshima Daigaku School of Law in Hiroshima, Japan.

I just learned of Allen's passing. I worked with Allen at the law school in Dayton. I am still there. I greatly appreciated Allen's guidance when I began my teaching career, and I so enjoyed his enthusiasm regarding his job and his genuine interest in the law. He will be missed.

Thank you for this thoughtful tribute! I do remember you pleasantly at the law school and hope you and your family are doing well.
Allen's remains were laid to rest yesterday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in a small family funeral with a military salute.
