The Dolbey family was part of the Analex family where Steve Dolbey was our Vice President and one of the best Managers an engineer could ever have. He made sure that we were sociable rocket scientists and well-rounded professionals. We had so much fun and worked so hard from 2000 to 2004 - we did our best. Barbara was always there at the Christmas party and at the office on special social occasions. Barb and Steve were a truly amazing couple. Always skiing going to the mountains. I remember the art and Steve's weaving. Andrea was awesome, too. Once upon a time, I talked to Barbara about her skiing despite her normal handicap (crutches) when she walked and She said up on the slopes it was a whole different story. That she could ski like everyone else. She loved the scenary up on top of the mountain and the peacefulness of gliding down the slopes.
God Bless Your Family,
Love,
Derek

"Mondays with Barbara", that is how our friendship developed. Every Monday evening, after Barb and Julie spent their day at the cancer center, it was my turn to spend my evening with Barb. It went from Monday to most every week day, walking Libby and stopping in just to say hi. I miss Barb so much! She made an impact on my life that has changed me forever. She told me there was a lesson in this journey and every Monday was a lesson. Barb watches over Steve, her family and friends. Catherine

It is with extreme sadness that I write this last note to you, although we all know you are happy and at peace. I will never forget your humor, your wonderful talent as an artist, tales of the days we both enjoyed sailing in the Chesapeake, the excitement over the move to Taos and your delight in your wonderful family and beloved husband Steve. Barb, I am so glad I was able to share in some of your wonderful life and I only hope and pray that I and others have the spirit, both emotionally and physically to do all of the wonderful things you did, to make our world a better place. You are missed terribly yet we thank you for what you did for all of us. Heartfelt prayers to Steve and all your wonderful children and grandchildren.
Warmest regards,
Linda Strine

My dear cousin Bunny: Our afternoon watching the ENTIRE "Wives and Daughters" while Ric and Steve were off doing their "thing" is forever etched in my memory as well as our 4 mile walk, pictures, dinners, wine, wine, wine, almonds on the counter, mini saltines, sunsets, the lulling dong of the huge windchime in the night breeze, laughing about family stories (Charley's and Barb's that is), THE rock (I still have the picture)Starbucks coffee mugs, dual carafe coffee maker, sharing stories of faith and loving life! Thank you for that!
Steve: love ya buddy! Would love to have come to Mesa.............Rest in peace Bunny! May our Mother, Mary wrap you in the mantel of her love and protection and take you to her Son. Love ya bunches,
Peace,
J

What a delight to know her. She and I communicated via email (as I live in the Bay Area) after meeting several yrs ago at a wonderful Lucier gathering in San Diego. The world is less sweet and warm without her. I am privileged to have witnessed her strength in the face of inexplicable challenges. I will miss her earthly communications - but will carry her life msgs within. My sympathies to her husband and much-loved children/grandchildren.

Barbara always had the best intentions and sincerity when she asked about our girls and their well being. We had many good times together when I was giving here art lessons and the lessons I got was from her enduring spirit, often working right through the pain after preparing, to go out plein aire painting, for days to have a good day through her pain. She never complained about anything and I knew she was in pain most of the time. Her fight to live is the most enduring part of her spirit and one of the most powerful aspects that I will ever learn from anyone.
Steve and Family, Bev and I send our most sincere and heartfelt condolences during your time of sorrow, look for the sunrise and the sunsets to light your way and try to see the things she was focusing during her years of painting, she truly (as she would say) left your family a legacy of love.

Steve, My heart goes out to you and your family at this time of grief. My dad died in April after battling cancer for about seven years. Everything I just read about Barbara makes me believe they showed the same strength and determination, making those around them aware of their love while hiding the battles they were fighting with smiles and humor. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in your family.

Barbara and I had a special friendship. Maybe, it was because we were both Aries, her birtyday was April 11th and mine is on April 9th.
We both loved watercolor and gardening. We both loved our families. We painted almost every Tuesday together. She inspired me and I did the same for her.
When she found out she had cancer, I said I would be there for her for anything she needed. I hoped it would be for many years, but it din't turn out that way. I will miss her very, very much, as will many of her friends.
Love always, Barbara, I hope you are enjoying looking down on all of us from where ever you are!
Love, Julie

Steve, I am grateful for the privilege of spending time with Barb and witnessing the beautiful love you share. My fondest memory of Barb is watching her pedal up the mountain with Dave as you and I lagged behind. You were so proud of her and delighted for her - the admiration your eyes contained was sacred. As Barb rides her bike up the mountanins of Heaven, my heart aches for you. May the Lord's grace flood over you. Love and prayers.

Dear Steve and family,
I feel honored to have been a "friend of Barbara" sharing a small part of her journey. What an incredible woman. During our last visit together i spoke of how she was such an inspiration...a teacher...showing us, by example, how to live through terrible adversity with immense grace. God blessed Barbara with humor, intelligence and courage and she shared those gifts with all of us. I will miss her and her great hugs. I pray that your grief passes quickly into joyful memories.

Dear Steve, Louise and I were deeply saddened by the news that Barbara had finally succumbed to the terrible disease she did not deserve. All of us can take a lesson from the strength and dignity that Barbara displayed in fighting all her life's medical obstacles. We sorely missed not having you live in the area and regret that we were never able to visit you in Taos. We will always cherish Barbara's wonderful memories and her earthy wisdoms that she shared with us. We know that Barbara is finally pain-free and at peace, and not far from us. We will miss her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you go through this terrible time.

Many wonderful memories were left in their wake as Barb, Steve and the rest of the Dolbey clan moved west. I still recall the many Wednesday evening sailing competitive brawls when Steve and the rest of us would timidly take our orders from our type A skipper, whose screams would create a frenzy of high emotion. And then Barb would throw in an occasional sharp jab and remove some of the hot air from his proverbial sails and bring us all down to more tolerable level of nail biting. You knew that nothing could be pulled over on Barb. She always had the mettle to say what she felt and often, it was well appreciated.
I have thought about Barb and Steve often as they have been one my role models. There always seemed to be an unlimited amount of kindnesses they have both embellished upon those that have tread across the doorstep of their home. And once inside, you knew to expect both a radiance of decorated southwest warmth and a constant whirlwind of life and living as their family, reach of friendships, and list of accomplishments has grown.
I can envision Steve waking up in the future, as he always has at O dark thirty, pet the dog, fix himself his cup of java, and then become one with his computer. And then, as the rays of the sun begin to sneak into the corners of the room where the fury of keyboard strokes and computer sounds are becoming more constant, the beauty of the reddish morning glow will be difficult to ignore. I can envision Steve then saying, Shes missing another fantastic day. But hell know as we all do, that while she wont be there physically that fine morning, a wonderful spirit like hers will always be among us.
To Steve, Steve and Barbs children, and to their childrens children, she was wonderful person and will be very much missed.

Barb was a wonderful neighbor. She was always planting or creating something. During the time she lived next-door, she planted many native trees, shrubs, roses and plants. They will live on for many years as testimony to her memory.
My thoughts and prayers are sent to her beautiful family, whom she leaves to grieve her passing. May you find comfort in the happy memories of her life, which will always be in your hearts.
