Bill Dickenson

Biography

BILL S. DICKENSON, 68, passed away at home in Angel Fire on December 1. In his courageous battle with prostate cancer, he was cared for by his loving wife, Mary Alice. Bill was born in Lubbock, Texas where he attended Texas Tech University. He lived in Albuquerque, Los Lunas, and Silver City before moving to Angel Fire. He was preceded in death by his parents Billy Mae and Walter S. Dickenson, his second wife Kelly, and his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Merritt. He is survived by his wife Mary Alice Dickenson, and his two sons, William Dickenson of Los Lunas and Dalton Dickenson of Colorado Springs, CO.
He worked in the hydraulics, drilling, metal fabrication and mining equipment businesses. He was an avid reader of history and loved to travel in the western United States. He loved fishing, hunting, motorcycles, cars, ATVs, trucks, dogs and mules. He had a great sense of humor, and he loved his friends wholeheartedly.

Surviving cancer is a difficult challenge, and his path was eased by Dr. Peter Lindberg of Los Alamos, Dr. Larry Schreiber of Taos, Ralph Valle of Prostate Community Action in Arizona (www.pcainaz.org), Joel Nowak, Director of Advocacy & Advanced Prostate Cancer Programs, Malecare, Inc. in New York, and, in Bills last days, Pat Heinen of Mountain Home Health Hospice. His friends all stood by him with devotion and were always willing to lend a hand.

There will be a gathering of friends at his home in January but no formal services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. James Episcopal Church Food Pantry 5794 NDCBU, Taos, NM 87571 or Mountain Home Health Hospice, PO Box 2566, Taos, NM 87571.

What a nice picture. So much like him.Thankful that we got to meet Bill. Wish we knew him better. Enjoyed the ATV rides we did and the team searches we were on togheter in Search and Rescue. Really enjoyed meeting him at the post office where he would have a big tale to tale about something. Always a smile. Mary Alice, he was a lucky man to have you by his side. I know he will be missed.

We remember Bill with great warmth and regret only that we had such limited opportunity to get to know him due to geography. It was our loss in every way. He was a man of integrity, love and strength who shared these qualities with his wife.

Mary Alice,
It was so much fun to have both of you come to Muey's 100th birthday party. I cannot believe they both went to heaven within hours of each other. They are being loved on by our Father in Heaven now. Love you.

Stacy, Coleen, and Amber wish to express our sympothies to the Dickenson Family.
He was my good friend, My Prospecting Buddy, I learned alot with Bill, and I was always picking his brain for more info on Mining and Mining History. He had a Wealth of information in him, and I regret that life got away with me that I was unable to spend more time with him when he was so sick. You could have asked for kinder, loving, special people than Bill and Mary. I would do anything for Bill and Mary, he was my special best friend I loved Bill to death and I will miss him very much.
You will find a tattered tent-pole with a ragged robe below it;
You will find a rusted gold-pan on the sod;
You will find the claim I’m seeking, with my bones as stakes to show it;
But I’ve sought the last Recorder, and He’s—God.
Sleep Well my old Friend!
