Bonnie Jean Kaufman, age 80, died from Alzheimer’s disease on December 1st, 2023 at her home in Arroyo Hondo, New Mexico.
She is preceded in death by her parents Stella and Omer Gignac and by her sister Cheryl Bisonette. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Michael, her daughters Jemery and Jessie and her grandchildren Theo, Chella and Amelie.
Bonnie was born in Hanover, New Hampshire in 1943. She received a BA degree from the University of New Hampshire and a masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Washington.
Bonnie loved to raise and ride horses. She rode throughout Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado (and even several weeks in Mongolia).
She served for many years as a social-work counselor, initially at Taos/Colfax and then at Taos Medical Group
Bonnie will be long remembered by the many people whose lives she touched, for her friendship, spirit, caring and humor.
A remembering gathering of her family, friends and those who have been touched by her will be held at Bonnie and Michel's home - 27 Camino des Monte Azul, Arroyo Hondo from 1-3 PM Saturday, December 23 2023.

Michael, Don and I are so very sorry to hear about Bonnie's passing. I have many wonderful memories of laughing, telling stories and always learning from Bonnie. She was a remarkable person in so many ways. Don and I send our sincere condolences.

Dear Bonnie, I'm so sorry you suffered with this horrible disease. I know you are no longer suffering and are at peace. I enjoyed every counseling session I had with you. Your warmth, humor, compassion and kindness helped me immensely. I missed seeing you after you retired. Thank you for all your help and friendship. My sincere condolences to your family and friends.
