Claudia Varela

Claudia Varela age 82 of Pecos, New Mexico passed away December 24, 2016. Claudia was born January 9, 1934 in Terrero, New Mexico to Rita and Nestor Varela.

Claudia is preceded in death by her parents Nestor Varela Sr. and Rita Varela, son Steve Varela, four brothers; Nestor Jr., Eloy (Libby), Onecimo and Euverio and sister Theresa Gonzales (Willie). She is survived by her daughters; Elaine (Bennie), Cindy (Mike) and Judy (Vincent), sons; Nick (Arline) and Peter (Gina). She is also survived by three sister in-laws Severiana, Nora and Mary Varela. She had many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Claudia died peacefully at home. She was a loving mother and friend. She loved spending time with her thirteen grandchildren and her thirteen great – grandchildren. She was an avid Broncos fan. We will miss her cooking especially her red chile.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Fr. Vincent Dominguez, Deacon Richard Roybal and wife Laura, Sue Larvo of Pecos Valley Medical Center, Dr. Egli and Hospice Staff, Rivera Family Funeral Home (Raymond), and all who visited and helped with mom during her illness.

Pallbearers will be her eight grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be her five granddaughters.

Rosary will be recited December 30, 2016 at noon followed by a Funeral Mass celebration at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Church, Pecos, New Mexico.
