Colleen Holthouse

Biography


Colleen Lane Holthouse, 81, born May 1, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan, passed away December 30, 2007 from Alzheimer's disease. She died at Plaza de Retiro Med Center, Taos, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty years, Bruce Holthouse. Bruce and Colleen met in Detroit Michigan in 1942, where Bruce was stationed for pilot training in the Army Air Corps, and they were married in 1943. They eventually moved to Los Angeles, then to San Bernardino where they raised two children, Pamela D. Tennant-Harris and Bruce Lane Holthouse. Bruce set up practice as a physical therapist and Colleen managed the office of the Credit Bureau until she began working for the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, first in accounting and then as a business consultant. She was very active in volunteer organizations and projects, and was given the Citizen of the Year Award from the League of Women Voters along with state and national awards for her community involvement. They moved to Taos in 2000 to be close to their family. Colleen is survived by her two children and their spouses, Tom Harris and Terry Davis, her grandchildren Scott Tennant, Mary Tennant and Harrison Holthouse, her great-grandchildren Sally Jane Tennant and Olivia Kaye Tennant. The rest of her remaining family live in Belgium.

Rosary will be recited on Sunday, January 06, 2008 at 6 PM at Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church in Arroyo Hondo. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 07, 2008 at 9 AM at Our Lady of Sorrow Church.
