It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Constancia “Connie” T. Ortega, 81, from Llano Quemado, New Mexico. Connie was born and raised in Llano Quemado, New Mexico, and attended school in Taos through grade 12. She lived a full and productive life with the love of her family, friends, and deep Catholic faith. Her life and legacy lives on in everyone she touched. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Solema Trujillo, siblings, Vicente Trujillo, Floyd Trujillo, Albino Trujillo, Oclides Coca and Ralph Trujillo, Jr. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Procopio G. Mascarenas, and her second husband, Moises L. Ortega, as well as her son, Miguel Ortega.
Connie is survived by her children, Mercedes (Joe) Valdez, Karen (David) Mascarenas-Rotunno, and Gary Mascarenas as well as grandchildren, Joshua Valdez, Christa Valdez, Marisa Valdez, and great-grandchildren, Jaiya and Elias. She is also survived by her beloved Yorkie-Poo, Maya.
Connie is also survived by her sister, Florence (Gilbert) Valerio and sisters-in-law, Theresa Trujillo and Dolores Trujillo. Connie is survived by a very close sister-in-law, Belinda (Gilbert) Archuleta, brothers-in-law, Norberto (+Flora), Leonardo (Karen), Carlos and Enoch Ortega, as well as sisters-in-law, Alma Ortega, Yoko Ortega and Florence Ortega, as well as many other family members and loved ones.
Special and heartfelt thanks to Arianna Almeida and the Olivas Sisters in Santa Fe for the loving care they gave to our dear mother, grandmother and sister.
Rosary will be recited on Friday, June 4, 2021, 6:00 pm at Rivera’s Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 10:00 am San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Interment will be on Monday, June 7, 2021, at 11:15 am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
