Cristobal Lavadie

Biography


Cristobal J. Lavadie, 87, passed away on June 15, 2008. He was born in Vallecitos, NM on May 8, 1921. As a child, he moved to Taos. Most recently he had lived in Albuquerque for the past 10 years. He was a World War II Disabled Veteran and served in the US Navy and US Marine Corp. He was a retired Medical and X-ray Technologist and worked at Pond Clinic in Taos, the University of California Scientific Labs in Los Alamos, Los Alamos Medical Center, Los Alamos, NM and Fairview Clinic, Espanola, NM. His passions were his family, fishing, gardening, and creating beautiful paintings. He is preceded in death by his late wife, Anselma (Selma) Lavadie and grandson David Montoya. He is survived by three daughters, Vivian Leoma Coughenour (Frank), Loretta Lavadie Sanchez (Fred), Frances Montoya (Richard), five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Fred Sanchez, Frank Coughenour, Keith Coughenour, Roberto Lavadie, Mike Montoya and Andy Duran.

Rosary was recited on June 18, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Taos. Funeral mass was held on June 19, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Taos. Interment followed at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the American Lung Association.

Familia Lavadie,
As a life long acquaintance of Mr. Lavadie and family of yesterday years please accept our condolences in your loss. Mr. Lavadie was some how related as his Parents, my Grand Parents and Parents were of the old families de Ranchitos. He was a fine genltleman and has left a foot print of much importance to us all.
