David V. Martinez
As the clouds darkened and the rain fell on the afternoon of Sept 11, 2023, we watched with anguish in our hearts and tears in our eyes as our precious David took his last breath here on Earth. As he has left this realm and entered a happier brighter one, we know that his physical pain is gone. His smile is wide, his eyes are clear, and his heart is filled with all the love that we sent him on with. David has been welcomed by his Tah (dad) and Padeh (brother). His spirit has soared higher, his soul is calm and is at peace. For those of us left behind our love for him will grow stronger day by day, year by year. We will feel despair and we will be lonely but as time goes on the sun will shine brighter, the birds will sing louder, the memories will become clearer. We will be with him again, let the Eagles fly high.David has left a lasting legacy of kindness, compassion, humor, fairness, friendship, loyalty, and a fierce love of all things important to him. The face of his beautiful wife, daughter, son, and animals were the light of his life.
The love he carried for his friends was unprecedented, he did not consider them just friends, they were his brothers and sisters. He was dedicated to the work he did and it brought him gratification working with everyone at the NMPRC to help the consumers of New Mexico.David had a strong love of nature, sunsets, storms, and watching sports, his favorites being the Redskins, Notre Dame, and the ATC Phoenix Basketball and Track Teams. His pride and joy was watching his daughter dance and strengthen in her Native traditions and seeing his son excel on the basketball court. He is preceded in death by his father Wayne, brother Ray, and grandparents. He is survived by his wife Vanessa, daughter Kianna, son Davion, parents Danny and Vici, brothers Wayne, Tonio (Karry) sisters Jennifer (Carlos), Melissa, Amy (Alex), Candace, Helena and Hunter who held a special place in his heart. Along with numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. The outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming and appreciated beyond measure. Private Traditional Pueblo services have been held throughout the week. There will be a public graveside memorial service at Rosario Cemetery in Santa Fe on Saturday, September 16th at 10:00 am.

David my brother. You brought me so much love, and happiness into my life. You were always happy, and positive when I saw you. I had so much fun with you on, and off the softball field. I love you my brother, we will see each other one day save third base for me when I get up there in heaven with you. Love you, your brother Archie.
