My heart is breaking as I must announce the passing of my beautiful wife, Dawn Ellen Zimmerman on September 21, 2023. She was born in Ticonderoga, NY, daughter the late Archie and Yvonne Rosenquist. She grew up loving the Adirondack Mountains, Lake Champlain and living a simple life close to the earth.
Her love of sewing lead to a self-made career of various forms of functional art including commercial awnings, boat and aircraft interiors, sail covers and custom creations.
Her love of sailing, travel and her canvas work led her to lifelong soulmate Rob Zimmerman. Together, they sailed extensively throughout the Bahamas and the Caribbean on their sailboat.
After the cruising years, Dawn added to her medical training and became a licensed ARNP and worked for Hospice of Saint Francis in Titusville, Fl.
Dawn has two daughters from an earlier marriage, Jessica Ellen Hill and Adrienne B. North. Jessica, who preceded Dawn in death, was a Lieutenant in the US Coast Guard serving as a Science Officer and a Dive Officer. Also preceding her in death was Dawn's sister, Bronwyn Wilcox of Clayton, NY.
Dawn’s daughter Adrienne has blessed her with a granddaughter Toree Gullett and a great-granddaughter Braelynn.
Dawn is survived by her brother, David Rosenquist of Levon, Tx., Kay and Butch Hartzog of Palo Alto, Ca, and Jan and Bill Ford of Melbourne, Fl.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the "Red Willow Hospice", Taos, NM or "Parkinson's Foundation" (parkinson.org)

Beautiful, wise and witty Dawn... you always brought me joy and comfort with your smile and kind words. Your thoughtful care packages of chicken stew and coffee cake always made things better.
I feel beyond priviledged to have met you and become your friend. I will never forget you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of plants, birds, labyrinths and all things wild and free with me... you were a one of a kind petite and sweet human, an inspiration really.
While your journey here on earth has ended I feel you will be soaring around the clouds and rainbows with your ravens always.
God speed dear Dawn.

Dawn was my little sister. I miss her so much! . I have so many fond memories of our childhood! Dawn loved to camp. We used to sleep in a tent in the back yard by the brook all summer. We spent many weeks camping at Paradox Lake and had to chase the bears out of our camp in AuSable. Dawn was a year behind me in school, but she was able to skip her senior year to go directly to college. We'd always keep in touch, and we visited each other over the year. She always amazed me with her wide variety of talents. She took her sewing talent from making me shirts in high school, to reupholstering boats, to making awnings! She will be missed.!

I was so sad to hear of Dawn’s passing. She had fought the hard fight, but is free of pain now. I only had the privilege to spend personal one on one time with Dawn about 4 or 5 times . We did share text messages and calls. Dawn had the most wonderful smile that could light up the room.

Auntie Dawn will be missed so much. My son, at age 2 I think, took to her right away and it’s easy to see why. Her laugh was so joyful & she had a warm and comforting presence that I know was cherished by so many. ❤️

Dawn was a funny, dedicated, creative, considerate and compassionate being.
She showed much grace, joy and optimism, even under extreme suffering and limitations associated with her Parkinson’s Disease.
She was a blessing in many, many lives.
Deep condolences to you Rob, Adrienne, Toree and all family members.

Dear Dawn-I'll miss you so very much. I am honored to have become your friend. Your intelligence, your humor, your grace, your fabulous teaching style, your smile that lite up any room you were in. I'm sure I will never sew a stitch without remembering you. No more pain or bad days for you my friend. I'll try to be happy about that. We'll meet again, I'm sure of it! Love, Elaine

Words can’t adequately convey what a truly remarkable and wonderful person Dawn was: Full of curiosity and wonder, delighted by the world around her with a deep interest and kindness towards people, positive and caring, fun loving yet practical. Funny!! Lovely! Always helping others even as her strength waned.
She was a great sister-in-law, who will be greatly missed.

I loved Dawn so much and will miss her horribly. She was one of the most caring people I've ever met. She was witty, smart, and took time with people, really listening. The world won't be the same without her.
