Dennis Gregory Rodriguez (11/28/54) passed peacefully in the presence of his family on the morning of December 28, 2023, after a sudden decline in health. Dennis was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico and remained a lifelong resident. He attended Santa Fe High School and later obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at the College Of Santa Fe. In his youth, Dennis loved spending time at the family cabin at El Vado Lake with family and friends. Dennis served his country in the Navy and was honorably discharged. He served the public as a New Mexico State Police Officer for thirteen years.
Dennis was a free-spirit who loved nature and the outdoors as well as corvettes and motorcycling. He enjoyed fishing, camping, music, movies, literature and most especially spending time with family and friends. He was a deeply intellectual man and would often spend a great deal of time reflecting about life and talking endlessly about philosophical topics to those close to him. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Dennis is survived by his two sons, Brian Rodriguez & spouse Andrea Rodriguez and Christopher Rodriguez & partner Jason Luttenberger; two grandchildren Kaira and Leia Rodriguez; and four siblings Chuck Rodriguez & spouse Char Rodriguez, Mary Ellen Flores & late spouse Martin Flores, Melinda Wedemeyer & spouse Bob Wedemeyer and Annette Brumley & spouse Mark Brumley. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces: Jared Rodriguez, Andrea Flores, Martin Flores Jr., Gabriel Rodriguez, Cassie Wedemeyer and Annalise Wedemeyer. He was predeceased by his parents Alfonso Rodriguez and Alice Gonzales-Rodriguez.
A rosary will be held in his honor on Wednesday, January 10th from 5-7 pm at the Kiva Chapel of Rivera Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held at Santa Maria De La Paz Catholic Church on Thursday, January 11th at 10:30am, followed by Internment Services with Honors at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30pm. A reception will follow at Fraternal Order of Police. Pallbearers shall be: Chuck Rodriguez, Miguel Chavez, Victor Gonzales, Michael Padilla, Mark Brumley, Jared Rodriguez and Gabriel Rodriguez.

For several days now I've been struggling with the reality that we won't be hanging out together anymore - thank you my dear friend for the years of friendship, the talks, the tears, and of course the laughs - lots of laughs :) Sincere condolences to your sons Brian and Christopher and also to your siblings. I will miss you, and if there is any consolation to this it has to be that you are in a beautiful place now, happy and healthy again. Rest in peace. Siempre con carino, Vickie

My brother was very dear to my heart. We loved spending time together reminiscing about our childhood and making new memories. We shared and compared books, politics, spiritual thoughts and the love of our family. We shared the same appreciation for good food and enjoyed cooking together. I will miss our long conversations about everything from: our kids, birds, dogs, nature, self reflection and the meaning of life. Dennis was a real student of life and it was an honor to walk this path with him as my brother and teacher. Love you brother.
