Biography

DiAna Cuevas Martinez

October 17, 1964 - November 4, 2022

With heavy hearts, we regret to announce that DiAna C. Martinez (58), a wife, mother, sister, grandma, aunt and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends at home, after a long battle with cancer. Her kindness and strength will be missed by many, whose lives she has touched throughout her lifetime.

DiAna is preceded in death by her mother Alicia Cuevas Doporto, brothers Jessie Nandayapa, Larry Cuevas, nephews Peter Doporto and Jesus Nandayapa, niece Alisdalia Nandayapa.

DiAna is survived by her husband Steve of 17 wonderful years, her two children who she loved dearly, Ernesto Fernandez and Cristal Romero, brothers and sisters Oscar Nandayapa, Maricela Flores, Dalia Abraham and Lupe Cuevas. Grand children, Eric Fernandez, Alijah Archuleta, Felix Archuleta and Gabriella Archuleta. Three nephews who she raised as her own children for the past ten years, Luis Cuevas, Marcos Cuevas, Noah Cuevas and many more nephews and nieces, too many to mention.

DiAna was born in Palomas Chihuahua, Mexico to her beloved mother, Alicia Doporto on October 17, 1964 and passed away on November 4, 2022. She became a resident of the United States on July 2, 1997 and achieved her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from NM Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM. DiAna worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor at Hoy Recovery Program for several years and went on to be a Social Worker for CYFD in Espanola, NM until she could no longer continue working. She was a dedicated social worker who loved the children she served and protected. She also was a Sign Language Interpreter (ASL), who helped many people with disabilities. DiAna was also a nurse for 17 years in Mexico and the surrounding areas of EL Paso, Texas and Southern New Mexico.

The family would like to express our undying gratitude to the professional staff at Presbyterian RUST Cancer Center in Rio Rancho, especially Dr. Sara Jordan who was with her from the very start of her journey as she battled cancer. Her PCP Dr. Kimberly Joy of El Centro Medical Center, who she loved talking to when she needed a shoulder to lean on. Also, a special thanks to Cristal, Ernie and Laura for helping me care for our precious DiAna, when she needed it most at the Hospice Center in Albuquerque.

DiAna WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN

Steve, Luis, Marcos, Noah and Ernie and Cristal, you are in my thoughts with sincere sympathy, love and care. My friendship with DiAna was sweet although it wasn't long, just since July, 2021. Her love for all of you and all her extended family was beautiful. It is comforting to know she is free of illness and many discomforts that she endured with grace and acceptance. Thinking of you all.

Our Sincerest Heartfelt Condolences to Steve and the Family of Di Ana.

It was Our Greatest Pleasure knowing this very sweet and caring lady. One of a kind with a big smile and A big heart..
A true treasure, who will be dearly missed. We know now you are truly free from your pain.
For you left this life to fly high into the heavens to where many who have gone to rest. What a joy that great celebration must be, to be surrounded by those who have gone to be in the splendor of our Lord. Sadness will remain in the hearts you left behind. However, your love remains with them and someday when the great gathering is upon us all, they will see you and Oh what a joyest day this will be!
Til then, we will pray for your families that God the Father gives them Strength, Understanding , Peace & Love during this very sad time.

Be free DiAna and enjoy your eternal peace.

Love your friends
Johnny and Cindy Martinez
