Dion Joe Albert Martinez – Age 2 a resident of Velarde passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2008. Little Dion was preceded in death by his grampo, Alfonso Martinez; grandparents: Ernesto and Flora Cordova; uncles, Albert Garcia de Martinez, Kevin Martinez and other beloved relatives who have gone to join the Lord. May their souls rest in peace. He is being missed deeply by his family and will be fondly remembered every minute of every day. Dion is survived by his parents: Joe and Rose Martinez and brother, Domonic all of Velarde who loved him dearly; grandparents: Dianna and Milfred Martinez of Chimayo; grandmother, Christina Garcia of Velarde; grampo, Freddie Martinez of Velarde; great-grandparents: Richard and Connie Garcia of Velarde; great-aunt, Marcella Garcia and husband Mario of Velarde; uncle, Dalbert Garcia of Velarde; great-uncles: Joseph Garcia and wife Andrea of Albuquerque, Juanito Garcia and wife Olivia of Albuquerque; favorite cousins: Cruzita, Omar and Jair Garcia all of Velarde; cousin, Kevin Martinez, Jr. of Chimayo and numerous cousins and other loving family and friends. A rosary for the repose of the soul of Dion Joe Albert Martinez will be recited on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Block-Salazar Mortuary. A second rosary will be recited on Monday, May 12, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Block-Salazar Mortuary. Mass of the Angels will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 12noon at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial will follow at the Velarde Catholic Cemetery.
