We are saddened to announce the death of our son Don Diego after battling cancer for the last five years.
Don Diego was a fun-loving person, gentle, caring, generous, and artistic, which showed in everything he did. He loved the outdoors, animals, and his family, and friends.
Don Diego is survived by his parents, Diego and Ursula, and his partner and best friend for the last several years, Stephanie and her two small boys who looked on Don Diego as their father.
A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 10:00am at the Rivera Family Kiva Chapel of Light, 417 Rodeo Rd., Santa Fe, NM.

Hey cuz. We always had a special bond even though we only saw each other once in a while. We always talked and laughed and even had a couple crazy experiences together like when you came to Denver and went to Elitch’s. Lol. Thank you for always welcoming me when I came to visit. Now you get to fly with the angels, carefree and without pain. Love you cuz. Till we meet again.

Oh Diego, everyday that passes breaks my heart cause we are apart. I'll never forget your laugh or your smile. Or all our inside jokes. 10 years just wasn't enough babe. I miss you so much. You showed me love, patience and kindness. I'm so lucky to have found you. You're my other half. I'm so glad I got to take care of you these last few months. It truly was an honor. I wish I could have taken care of you forever. I will honor you everyday in the ways you would want. I hope you stay with me an guide me because I still need you. The boys still need you. Diego, you were such a kind, and fun loving person! I am so grateful to experience your light in the world. Everyone around you always had a smile. I will miss your laugh and your humor. You were such a good friend , always honest and never wanted anything less than what made you happy. You lived such a full life, you made every minute count. You were like a brother to me. Thank you for your friendship. I am comforted to know you were surrounded by a loving family and children. Diego and Ursula I pray for warmth and comfort during this time. Diego i don’t know where to begin but I wish I had been able to see you one last time and see that smile that always made my day when I’d see you. You always had a smile and held it so proudly regardless of what you were going through! Every time I saw you I made it a point to tell you keep smiling and you always did. I’m glad I got to know you, you were always a good friend to me but an even better friend to my brother and Ik he cherishes every moment you all shared! Diego my dear friend I am lost for words .i have so many great memories with you that I will cherish forever. We have been my great friend since we were little boys in Little League. To Junior High and high school at Santa Fe High I will always remember you giving me a ride to school on the great conversations and memories we made along the way. We remain friends even as adults you were the one that took me to the hospital to see my father the day that I lost him. If it wasn't for you I would have never made peace with my dad that day . So thank you for making me go. I love you like a little brother and I will always hold you close to my heart. I remember the last conversation we had and I was grateful I got to see you that day you were always in High Spirits even in your circumstances you carry the smile and I admire you for that. I love you D this is not the end till we meet again this is only a good buy for now till next time we cross paths God bless you my brother
