Dorothy “Big Red” Rivera, age 71, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus, with her daughter and granddaughter at her side on December 26th. She was a gifted artist, loyal sister, devoted mother and loving grandmother that fully embodied the word generosity. She loved going out with her family and could often be found at one of her favorite restaurants in town, talking about her latest movie about Jesus, making jokes and talking to lifelong friends she’d inevitably run into. Her larger-than-life personality and tenacious spirit will live on eternally in the memories of all who knew her. Dorothy is preceded in death by her life partner, Geneva "Genoveva" Chavez, parents, Lalo and Lydia Rivera, sister Linda and brother Ralph. She is survived by her daughter Angelicque, son in law Jerry Baca, granddaughter Kayla Lujan and sisters Marylou Orozco, Lucille Gonzalez and Diane Rivera. There will be a memorial service in the near future, updates can be found on the Rivera funeral home website.

My deepest condolences to the family of Dorothy "Big Red" Gloria Rivera. How strange, I was reminiscing and remembering her & Genoveva just a few weeks ago. I worked at Rancho de Chimayo (1978-1989) so Genoveva and I became close friends and through her I met Dorothy "Big Red" Gloria. She was such a kind, sweet, & loving person. May she "Fly high with the Angels" as she is once again reunited with her beloved Genoveva. May God give you the strength & comfort you need at this time. God bless you all.
