It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Dorothy Romero (68) was called home to be with our heavenly Father. Dorothy passed peacefully on January 24, 2024. She was born and raised in Santa Fe New Mexico and was a graduate of Santa Fe High School where she met and then married Gilbert A. Romero, her husband of 51 years. Dorothy was deeply loved and enjoyed spending time with her family. Gilbert was in the Army and together with Dorothy and their daughters, traveled to many places and lived in various states and abroad. With selfless dedication she volunteered for many organizations in her community and was always ready to lend a hand when needed.  


She was preceded in death by her parents, William Arthur and Lena Jimenez, her bother William Arthur Jimenez Jr., and niece Cynthia Martinez. Dorothy is survived by her spouse Gilbert Romero, daughters Lydia Sudler (Michael), Charlotte Romero (Tommy Lucero), and Tanya Sturgeon (Edward). Her grandchildren Christina Laufer (Jade), Dominic Laufer (Ricardo), Desiree Cdbaca, Isaiah Sudler, Destiny CdeBaca, Emilio CdeBaca, Cheyenne Gallegos and Luke Sturgeon. Her sisters, Amy Jimenez, Darlene Vigil (Edward), Evie Iyow (Abdi), Louise Martinez, Edna Montoya, Dolores Romero (Mark) Florence Jimenez,  brother Harold Jimenez and 9 great grandchildren. 


A rosary will be recited by the Caballeros de Vargas at 9:30 AM on Monday February 5th with a Catholic Mass following at 10:00 am at Santa Maria De La Paz, 11 College Ave, Santa Fe NM. A reception will follow at the VFW, 307 Montezuma Ave, Santa Fe NM. Her interment burial will be Tuesday February 6th at 1:30 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
