Biography


Edward P. Hoeppner, Master Sergeant, U.S. Army Ret. 84 of Pojoaque, NM. Died peacefully on Friday September 5, 2008 in Santa Fe. As a young boy in Wisconsin, he was taught the healing arts and homeopathic remedies by a Menomonee Shaman. He carried that knowledge with him through his life. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy after the attack on Pearl Harbor by Japanese forces, and was on board The U.S.S. Missouri when General McArthur and the Japanese Envoy signed the peace accord. He honorably served in Korea, four tours in Vietnam in The Green Berets Special Forces and subsequently retiring as Master Sergeant after 26 ½ years of active duty serving his country. He was cross trained as an E.M.T. and firefighter in Arizona, and during a search & rescue mission lost his toes due to frostbite. He also was a cattle rancher in Arizona, and more recently raised poultry. He was a dedicated husband to his wife and also was a father to numerous children; both biological and adopted, many grandchildren and other family members. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Pojoaque.
