Elmer J. Sanches

Elmer J. Sanches, 73, of Santa Fe, NM passed away on August 21, 2011. He was born on April 14, 1938 in Costilla, NM to Helen Barela and Carlos Sanchez. Elmer is preceded in death by his father, Carlos Sanchez, mother, Helen Sanchez, and sisters, Mary Ann and Mildred. He is survived by his sunshine, Mable DeHerrera, daughter, Paula Arellano, son, Michael Sanches, son-in-law, Luciano Arellano, grandson, Carlos Arellano, granddaughter, Jackie Arellano, grandson, AJ Arellano, sister, Serbie Rodriguez (Joe), sister, Ursula Valdez, sister, Gloria Padron, brother-in-law, Wayne Norwood, special daughter, Rona, and son, Joey Ortega and 9 special grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren , numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Elmer served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Yorktown from 1959 to 1965. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and hunter, a loving partner, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was a long time resident of San Francisco, CA and loved it. We would like to extend a special Thank You to Dr. Dummer.

A visitation and rosary were held on August 25, 2011. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on August 26, 2011. All services were held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment followed at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
