Eloida S. Garcia

Eloida S. Garcia

April 23rd, 1930 - May 19th, 2022

Biography

Eloida Stella Garcia went to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 19, 2022.

Eloida was born April 23, 1930 to Miguel and Isabelita Barbero.  Eloida and her husband Fred L. Garcia had four children, Pete, Ray, Connie and Steve.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Garcia and her son, Pete, her parents Miguel and Isabelita Barbero, her siblings, Reyes Barbero, Jake Barbero, Eralia Chavez and Delfina Armijo, her In-laws, Manuel and Juanita Garcia, brothers-in-law, Manuel Jr., Arturo, David and her sister-in-law, Laura Rodriguez.

Eloida is survived by her 6 grandchildren, Pete Garcia Jr., Teresa Garcia, Lawrence Garcia, Ray Garcia Jr., Melanie Pena and Stephanie Chaves, her 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter, her daughter-in-law, Joanne Garcia and her son-in-law, Byron Lanyon-Roberts.

As the beautiful bride of Fred L. Garcia at eighteen; Eloida was a strong woman who in the beginning of her marriage did not have much, nonetheless, her wealth did not come from a financial standpoint but from her family.  She made the best of what she had, therefore, she worked hard to give her family the best life during difficult times.

Eloida was a very devoted and caring wife and mother.  She loved God, her family and she also loved to travel, take long walks, and she especially loved to go into the mountains for hours and pick pinon, her favorite pastime.  She was a very honorable and kind person and will be remembered as a loving and caring woman who always made family and friends feel welcomed in her home.

Eloida is now walking the golden streets of heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and with all her family who have gone there before her.

Pallbearers are: Elias Espinosa, Waldo Armijo, Pete Garcia, Jr., Ray Garcia, Jr., Lawrence Garcia and Justin Pena.

A special ‘thank you’ to Amber Care Hospice for the compassionate and loving care of our mother.

As noted in her biography, family was very important to Eloida, lots of Garcias, Barberos, and others. So it must have been quite a shock when her daughter, Connie, dragged home a Gringo from the Land Down Under, to meet Mother. More shocking was that he and Connie were getting married. However, my fears were groundless, and all went well even though Eloida could not understand a word I said, and vice versa. She soon became my second Mom, and she promised to feed and house me as long as I shoveled the snow off the paths during winter storms. Mom made me welcome every time we visited, and only ever showed me kindness and genuine care, especially during my recent health scare. (The rosary beads got a real workout for a few months.) I will miss you, Mom, and I am sure you will be spending your time with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as Mexican soap operas are banned in heaven. Ella siempre va a estar con nosotros, en nuestra memoria y en el corazón.

My very sincere condolences to all of Eloida's loved ones. Eloida and my mother, Rose Cruz, were dear friends. Mom and Eloida were long time friends and confidante's. They spoke at least once a week. When mom passed away, in 2015, I tried desperately to reach Eloida but she wasn't in her casita which was just down the road from mom's. Today I saw her obituary and ofcourse, thoughts of her long time friendship and kindness to my mother came to mind and my sadness that I wasn't able to thank her for the lovely company she gave to mom. Que Dios La Tenga en Su Gloria.

My heartfelt condolences to Connie, Steve, Ray, Melanie, and all of Mrs. Garcia's loved ones. I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother and grandmother was such a kind and loving woman who always was a joy to be with. She always welcomed me in her home when I visited Connie since the 70's. I have many wonderful memories of times spent at her house when we would have meals and spend hours talking, as well as the times Connie would bring her to my house for dinner and visits with my mother as well. Your mother will be greatly missed by so many people but she is no longer suffering and is rejoicing with Jesus. May our Dear Lord comfort you during this difficult time and give you peace in knowing that you will see her again. You are all in my thought and prayers. God bless you.
