Biography


Emilio E. Gonzales, 76, of Española passed away on March 12, 2021 after a brief illness.  Emilio was born on January 25, 1945 in Embudo NM.  He proudly served in the US Army.  He worked at Magna Copper Co. in Arizona and lived and worked in Minnesota for a short time, but NM was in his heart where he returned and lived the remainder of his life.  Emilio was a hardworking man with a kind heart.  His hobbies were fishing, gardening, wood working, going to the casino and having coffee with his buddies.  Emilio loved football and was a huge Broncos fan.


Emilio is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents who raised him, Pedro and Genoveva Gonzales, his mother Beroniz, stepfather Felix Ortega and also his sons Albert (Beto) and John.


He is survived by two sons Emilio Jr. and Richie and several grandchildren, his sisters Gloria Mendibles, Rosie Ortega and Betty (David) Flores all of Arizona, also May (Emilio) Villa of California.  First cousins Linda Martinez, Pete (Dorothy) Valdez,Vickie Valdez and Ralph Vigil. His Querida Compañera Patricia Kaufman and family. And many other friends and relatives.


Christian Rite of burial mass will be on Thursday, May 06, 2021 at Santa Cruz Holy Cross Catholic Church at 10:00AM. Committal ceremony and military honors will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30PM. 


The family of Emilio E. Gonzales has entrusted their loved one to Rivera Family Funeral Home of Española.
