Epimenio (Eppie) Martinez Jr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022. He was a resident of La Mesilla, New Mexico. Eppie was born on January 24, 1981 to Epimenio and Annjanette Martinez. He was employed with the State of New Mexico. He was a proud son, nephew, cousin, godfather, and friend to so many.
Eppie brought joy and laughter into all of our lives. Eppie enjoyed sharing his life and his views. Asking questions that made you think and spark debates or conversations that would go on for hours. “Let’s agree to disagree,” was one of his great sayings. He was wise beyond his years many said he had an old soul. I think everyone he knew would have a great story to tell about him. We could write a novel to describe what a wonderful person he was and it would never be enough.
Eppie was an avid San Francisco 49er’s fan. His true passion was his love for his family and friends. On his days off he loved to watch old movies and he would listen and sing to different genres and all decades of music. He has touched so many lives and all for the better. Eppie Jr. will be forever remembered, loved and most of all missed.
Eppie is preceded in death by Epimenio Martinez Sr. (Father), Antonio Martinez (Grandfather) and Epimenia Martinez (Grandmother), Uncles; Ramon Martinez, Aniceto Martinez, Armando Martinez, and Aunt; Irene Jaramillo-Garcia, Jose “Bobby” Padilla (Grandfather) Mary Padilla (Grandmother) Prisicilla Padilla (Aunt), Raymond Padilla and Victor Padilla (Uncles)
Eppie is survived by Annjanette Martinez (Mother), Aunts and Uncles; (Mary Martinez), (Connie Martinez), (Theresa Martinez), (Leroy Garcia), Arsenio Martinez (Cynthia), Juan Martinez (Lawra), Ercelia Martinez (Dennis), Cordelia Garcia (Paul), Jose Manuel Montoya, Jose Ernesto Martinez (Yvonne), Evelyn Chavez (Larry), Genny Duran (Russel) Leonard Padilla (Virginia) Bernice Padilla, Anthony Padilla, Annjanette Martinez, Rosemary Narvaiz (John) Marylouise Jackson(Delton) Paul Padilla, Joseph Padilla, Leroy Padilla (Monica) Dianna Padilla, Patricia Maestas (Manny), Dorothy Kavanaugh and many cousins, extended family and friends.
Family has chosen to have services at a later date. Please share your condolences on line.

My condolences to the family and God's blessings to you all. I worked with Eppie at the State and he was always so helpful to me at CYFD. He always had my back. Needless to say, I am shocked by his passing far too soon. May he rest in peace. Harry Montoya

I met Eppie in 2006, when we began working together at CYFD. Eppie and I had hundreds of conversations that always left me impressed with Eppie’s insight to many subjects and life itself. Eppie was an old soul and wise beyond his years. Eppie was one of the hardest working men I worked with in my career in government and was always willing to learn and better himself every chance he got. I considered Eppie a close friend and colleague. You will be missed Eppie. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that you won’t be calling anymore. Rest In Peace Eppie and may God bless your family and comfort them during this difficult time.

Eppie is and will always be the most wise, loving, and the most forgiving human being I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, loving and unfortunately now grieving. I can't imagine what my sister Anj is experiencing right now. And nor do I want to. I love you both with all my heart. Eppie, you will forever be loved, missed and most of all remembered.....!

My condolences to the Martinez and Padilla families. I met Eppie when I worked for the State’s Children, Youth & Families Department. Eppie was an exemplary employee that was so kind and professional with other State employees. His Aunt Priscilla was part of my mom’s and dad’s wedding part in 1971. My family and I lived a two minute walk from the Padilla home on Cerro Gordo. I remember Dorothy with her boom box on the school bus playing Michael Jackson’s music. Rest In Peace Eppie and may the Lord comfort the hearts of your loved ones.

Oh the deep conversations we had though out the years. But one of the last we had was a question Eppie asked me. “Would you prefer to be intelligent or wise?” To which I answered wise. Please God give us the wisdom to know that this is not the end, but a new Beginning for Eppie. Help is to remember that we will see him again, and we will have many more conversations. Help us to be strong as we grieve for Eppie. Eternal rest grant unto him o Lord. And let perpetual light shine on him.

Eppie was my coworker, favorite carpool buddy and friend, there are so many stories we could tell, so many conversations and jokes shared over many many years, it’s hard to know that won’t happen anymore. Eppie was one of a kind with a great laugh and smile, he was fun and interesting and will be sorely missed by everyone that knew him. Rest In Peace Ep
My deepest condolences to Eppie's family and friends. Heaven gained another Angel.
