Ermelinda L. Garcia, age 88, a resident of Placitas, Passed away on March 5, 2024, of natural causes. Ermelinda was born in 1935, to Jose Amadeo and Amalia Quintana in Placitas. Ermelinda was married to Toby F. Garcia, and they had four children together, Toby Garcia, Diana Garcia, Martha Garcia, Louella Garcia, Soveida Garcia.
Ermelinda was a kindhearted woman who would love and take care of anyone she came in contact with. She created a large loving family with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ermelinda was proceeded in death by her husband, Toby F. Garcia; her parents, Jose Amadeo and Amalia Quintana; her siblings, Carmen Maestas (Clorimel), Lee Quintana (Tina), Fidencio Quintana; her grandparents, Remedios Barela-Montoya and Patracinio Barela, her brothers-in-laws, Macedonio Garcia, Nick Cardenas, Luis Pacheco, Charlie Suazo, Felipe Garcia, Andrew Garcia, Moises Garcia and Desiderio Garcia, sisters-in-law, Rose Montoya and Evonne Maurer and aunt, Emma Archuleta.
She was survived by her children, Toby Garcia (Josephine), Diana Garcia, Martha Garcia, Louella Garcia, and Soveida Garcia (Andres); her siblings, Sylvia Garcia, Gloria Cardenas, Lorraine Suazo, Patricia Pacheco, Thomas Quintana (Mary Ann), Jeanette Fritch (Steve), aunt, Julia Trujillo (Leo), uncle, Luis Barela (Trinnie), sister in-law, Lucinda Garcia; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13,2024 from 5-7 at Rivera Chapel in Taos. A rosary in honor of Ermelinda will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 6:00 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Services will be held on Friday March 15, 2024 at 10 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe and followed by the burial at Dolores cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Toby Garcia, Tommy Quintana, Ray Garcia, Richard Garcia, Rene Garcia and Randy Garcia.

My condolences to my primos and their families on the loss of my Tia Merlie. I will always treasure the memories I have of my Tia who was always there for me through all the happy times or when I needed support during sad times. She always had a smile and I will miss seeing her. I hope she knew that I loved her. I pray that God grants her children and grandchildren peace and comfort in the difficult days ahead.
