Ernest Sanchez, 83, of Santa Fe, and formerly Albuquerque, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022 at his Santa Fe home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 12, 1939 in Dilia, NM, the son of Canutita Ulibarri Sanchez and Manuel Sanchez. He and Dolores Gonzales were married in Denver, CO on September 30, 1967.
Ernie was a proud Marine member of the American Legion Post 13 and Post 1, an avid Bronco fan, and loved music and dancing. He dearly loved his wife Dolores of 55 years more than life itself, and cherished his kids, grandkids, and great grand daughter.
Ernie had many special people in his life: Billy Baca, Serenity, Sherri Hart, Joann Petty, Mark Martinez, Ron Montoya, and Pete Chavez. He dearly cherished his relationships with his wife Dolores’s entire family. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Tony Sanchez, Pete Sanchez, and Joe Sanchez; and 4 sisters, Carol Montgomery, Rita Oropeza, Maria Sanchez-Padilla, and Beatrice Aranda.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dolores Sanchez; his daughter, Laura Sanchez (Billy); son, Ernesto Sanchez (Doreen); grandchildren, Anthony Sanchez, Monica Sanchez, Michael Sanchez, Joseph Sanchez, Johnathen Sanchez (Evelyn), and great grand daughter, Sophia Mae Trujillo. He is also survived by his two sisters, Bernie Carderra, and Sarah Macias and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at the Rivera Family Kiva Chapel. Interment with full military honors will follow at 2:00 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will include his grandchildren, Anthony, Monica, Michael, Johnathen, and Joseph Sanchez.
