Evelyn Garduno 72, passed away on February 5, 2022, peacefully with her family by her side. She was born in San Juan Pueblo, June 17, 1949. She was raised in Espanola, NM and later made her home in Nambe, NM where she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Leonard Garduno; mother Amanda Naranjo, great-grandson Zachariah Sanchez, brother-in-law Guillermo Garduno, nephews Adelmo Trujillo, Carlos Jr., Steven Garduno and many other relatives.
Our mother Evelyn was beautiful, reserved, and tenacious. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. After high school she attended El Rito Vocational School where she earned a Certificate in Accounting. She had an ambitious career with the State of New Mexico, Human Services Department, Income Support Division as the County Office Director. Her devotion and LOVE to her FAMILY was NEVER ENDING! Traveling, fine dining, the casino was her joy. Her family will always remember her bright red lipstick, she never left home without it. Mom worked hard to give her children everything, the more she gave, the more she was blessed. Mom’s favorite saying, “I became a grandma before the age 40, I retired before 50 and became a great-grandmother before 60.”
Evelyn is survived by her children, Marvin Naranjo, Valerie Naranjo Maestas, Yvette Naranjo, Jacinto Garduno and Camille Garduno-McMillan (Matt). Brothers-in-Law, Carlos Garduno (Theresa), Joaquin Garduno, and Sister-in-Law Sandra Sena (Damian). Special Aunt, Erlinda Sanchez who treated mom like a daughter, and her caregiver “Angel” treated her like a sister in the short time she cared for her.
