this is such an incredibly late-entry... i apologise.
i loved the relationship between Danetta and Jimmie. while i was at their home years and years ago, Jimmie and Danetta walked in, and Jimmie was singing "Happy to be Stuck With You" by Huey Lewis and the News - and he was singing it to Danetta; the way they looked at each other -- i'll never forget! their obvious and enduring love for each other has always stuck in my mind - and has been a source of inspiration over the years in my own marriage. peace & love~

I remember my first time in Red River. I went up with my Paw Paw and Granny. We went up every summer or every other summer. When we (the Ballards) got into town, Jim and Dannetta met us with open arms. Jim and Dannetta soon became part of our family and in return treated us as their family. Jim and Dannetta opened not only their community but their home. Jim will be greatly missed. Especially his smile and love for life. Red River will not be the same without him. Dannetta, my heart goes out to you and your family. I look forward to seeing you this summer.

It is 25 years ago this summer that I met you, Mom and Keith for the very first time. As anyone who has been blessed to meet your family knows that you must have been pretty special for my parents who have never seen you before leave their only daughter with you, Mom and Keith for the rest of the summer. And every summer after that for many many years. God has blessed me by knowing you, enjoying you and most of all loving you all. You are my mom and dad and bubbie even though not a spec in us is blood related. I will never be able to express my love for you. I am so proud of the way you were strong through this. Please know that we are lifting you and Keith up in prayer. We feel blessed to have known Jimmy and enjoyed so much our visits to Red River because of you two. We love you and look forward to seeing you in July. My mom and dad (Novalene and Woody Wilson) wanted me to be sure and tell you they are thinking about you and praying for you, too.

The last time we saw Jimmie was when we went skiing in Jan 2006, we met Jimmie and Danetta for supper and had a great time. Even through his sickness he always had a smile on his face. I only knew Jimmie about 10 years. He was the sweetest and kindest person I have had the privilege of knowing. It was hard to lose him but God now has a special angel by His side.

My uncle Jimmie King was such a special person in my life. I am his only niece and he always made me feel loved and special. I admired Jimmie so much because he fought his disease with everything that he had with such heart and such spirit. He was one of the kindest people that I will ever know and I will miss him with all my heart.
