Biography


Mr. John M. Casick, age 94 of Embudo, NM. died peacefully on Thursday May 20, 2010 in Raton, NM. He was born in Aurora, Minnesota in 1916 to the late Martin and Helen Casick. On July 3, 1939 he married his beloved wife Ellen Guthner in Raton. He retired as a conductor for the ATNSF Railroad and was a proud veteran of the United States Navy during WWII as a Gunners Mate First Class. He was a life member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 461, The Veterans of Foreign Wars and The United Transportation Union. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife.
Recitation of the rosary is scheduled for Tuesday evening (May 25th) 7:00pm at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Dixon. The mass of Christian burial is scheduled for Wednesday morning at 11:00am also St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Dixon. Interment will follow in The Fr. Cooper Cemetery in Dixon. I was honored to know John these past 3 years.
He had a full and wonderful life. I think he was most proud of being a conductor for the RR so many years.
He would always share his life adventures with us all at MCMC-LTC. He could remember everything he has done and had a great sense of humor!
I will miss him coming to my desk almost everyday telling me he was headed to the post office and then driving up to see the old Morley Church Cross on the pass.
Rest in peace my dear friend, you surely deserve it.
