Johnny Michael Garcia, 69, passed away January 17, 2024 after a brief illness. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Tesha Stone (fiancé, Randy Elizondo), her mother Yvette and many friends throughout Taos and Angel Fire. He is preceded in death by his parents Hipolito and Julia Vigil Garcia, brother Steve and sister Pauline. Johnny lived in Taos his entire life and was a man of many talents from joining the Taos Volunteer Fire Department at age 18 and becoming a lifetime member to being Advertising Manager for the Taos News to being Mountain Manager at Angel Fire Ski Resort and working for Friday Motors as well as being a longtime umpire for the Los Amigos softball league, a skilled mechanic and plasterer. More importantly Johnny will be remembered as a friend to many who would always be there to help if you were in need. Johnny enjoyed skiing, camping and being in the mountains that surround us. For those who knew Johnny, he was honorable, generous to a fault, devoted to the people he loved, kind and forgiving. At times, Johnny took the rough road, but he remained undaunted, indestructible and enduring. A memorial service will be held this spring.

My condolences to Tesha and Yvette. Johnny was a classmate and friend. His smile was always genuine and welcoming. I always enjoyed visiting with him because he just picked up where we left off. Prayers for him and you will be said.
