Jose Amabeliz Vasquez

Jose Amabeliz Vasquez, age 83 was born March 28, 1925 to Carlotta Avila and Gregorio Vasquez, passed away on March 12, 2009 surrounded by his family. Jose retired from the Los Alamos Schools in 1987, he was active as an Hermano de Nuestro Padre Jesus de Nazareno in El Rito for more than 50 years, and loved the outdoors. He was preceded in death by wife Olympia Vasquez, son Joe Vasquez, brother Leandro Vasquez and sister Feliciana Vasquez. He is survived by sister Isabel Alire , sister in law Adelaida Vasquez, son Jerry L. Vasquez and wife Belinda of La Madera, daughter Edna Vasquez of El Rito and son Joseph Vasquez of El Rito, grandchildren; Yolanda Serna and husband Eddie of El Guache, Jerrito Vasquez of La Madera, Jessica Vasquez of La Madera, Myra Pena and husband Juan of Gypsum, CO., Melinda Garcia and husband James of Espanola, Julian Gallegos and wife Misty of England, Alexandria Vasquez of La Madera, great grandchildren; Ashley Serna, Madelyn and Angela Pena, and Joshua Garcia, many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Public visitation will take place one hour prior to the rosary, which will be recited on Friday March 13 at 7:00 PM at San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito. Public visitation will also take place one hour prior to the Mass of Christian Burial being offered on Saturday at 2:00 PM also at church. Interment will follow at the El Rito Community Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Eddie & Yolanda Serna, Jerrito, Jessica and Alexandria Vasquez, James and Melinda Garcia, Myra and Juan Pena and Peter Chavez, honorary pallbearers are Julian Gallegos, Ashley Serna, Madelyn and Angela Pena and Joshua Garcia.
