Biography


Jose Leandro "Larra" Quintana, 89 A long time resident of Española passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the V.A. Hospital in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his parents: Juan Andres and Elvira M. Quintana; brothers: Ramon and Eloy Quintana; sister, Mary Marquez and husband Danny and a sister, Audree Hauck. May their souls rest in peace. Mr. Quintana was a survivor of the World War II Bataan Death March. As the original owner, he built the Tropicana Bar and Triple S Store from the ground up. He is survived by his daughter, Olga Quintana-Anson and husband Dick; his beloved sisters: Matilde "Mattie" and Toni Quintana; numerous nephews and nieces: James, Walter and Michael Quintana, Kevin Hauck, Edward Marquez, Loyola Serna, Madeline Marquez and Virginia Saldivar; and numerous other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Block-Salazar Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with military honors.
