Josie Arellano

Josie Arellano, 85, resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico passed away on March 15, 2021 due to a brief illness. She was born on August 23, 1935 in Grenville, New Mexico to Carmelita and Francisco Valdez. She married Fermin F. Arellano on May 07, 1955 in Clayton, NM.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Fermin F. Arellano, sons Louis N. Arellano, Mark A. Arellano, Frank G. Arellano, grandson Adrian Garcia, Jr., son-in-law Martin Valdez, parents Carmelita and Francisco Valdez, mother and father in-law Escolastica and Jesús Arellano, sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Survived by her beloved sons and daughters Paul (Joyce) Arellano; Priscilla (Rick) Kilkenny; Daniel Arellano, Theresa (Tommy) Garcia, Elaine (Marcus) Boston, Joe (Eilani) Arellano, Ernest Arellano (Tracey), Jo Ann Arellano (Steve) and Camille (Adrian) Garcia, daughter-in-law Jeanette Arellano, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, sisters Elizabeth (Anselmo) Bowles and Donna Valencia, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Josie was a beloved wife and a loving, caring mother of twelve.  A grandmother of 34, a great-grandmother of 36, and a great-great-grandmother of two.  Family was everything to her.  Josie was extremely proud of being a teacher at Manderfield Headstart where she worked for 25 years. She had an immense love and a great deal of patience for children. She was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of St. Francis Cathedral for most of her life.  She prayed numerous times daily for all her deceased family members as well as the living family members.

A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at Rivera Kiva Chapel of Light located at 417 E Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, NM.

Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica located at 131 Cathedral Place, Santa Fe, NM followed by Interment at Rosario Cemetery.
