So many years have gone by Juan, and not a day goes by without thinking of you. Melissa and Jenna miss you so much. He was the best "God Brother" to my grandson, Javier and even took on the role of being "God Brother" to Javier's little brother, Isaiah as well. I am heartbroken to hear of Juan's passing. He was a truly special person; at SIATech, he inspired other students by sharing his adacemic accomplishments with them. He was often heard encouraging other students, saying, "If I could do it, so can you!".

Dear Brother Steve,
I was saddened to hear about your son's death and pray to God that He will comfort you in your grieving and healing.
I only met your son one time, but I could tell that you were close to each other. I know the love a father for a son and am sure that this is hard for you.
It is a comfort to Joann and me that you accepted Christ into your heart and now that our oldest son Pancho has done the same. As the Bible says, if God is with us, who can stand against us?
Many of us have walked the dangerous streets and made it out alive and well. We should thank God for saving us in more ways than one. I am very happy to hear that you are doing well. I wish you peace and love always.

My brother, it hurts me to see you in such pain on the tragic loss of your son, Juan. His life on earth was too short. I know there were many years you missed out on his growing up. I'm glad the Lord did bless you with the last few years of having a father and son relationship. Just remember he left this world knowing his daddy loved him deeply. I'm glad now that my daughters moved to Taos to go to high school. They were able to know and love Juan too. Casandra will have the memory of Juan's rap song to her. They were very close. I have few memories and that brings me pain but I will give tribute to Juan by helping to fight this war on drugs. No mother or father should have to bear the pain of losing their child. I pray your faith in God will give you comfort.

We lost someone that would have done anything for anyone. He would give his last dollar to you if he knew you needed it.Primo we went through a lot together. TO: Josie, family, and friends:
I met Juan his 5th week at Job Corps when he came into my GED Language Arts class. He immediately made it known to me that he felt stupid about English. I told him he just needed to clean the cobwebs out of his brain and put it to good use here.
He was often a positive influence to other students telling them how long he’d been out of school and if he could do the work so could they. He was friendly and outgoing.
When he felt inadequate at something he would let his temper flare. He started coming to my class to settle down before and/or after he said something he shouldn’t have. We’d talk about the cobwebs and making the right choices to better his future. He so desperately wanted everything “right now” so he could provide for his little girl. This often left him impatient with process and procedure here. He knew what was right, but didn’t always make the right choice. I became an advocate for him on campus when he was having trouble or missing from campus. I called Josie, his friends, and him, when he finally got a cell phone, to get him back here before he got in worse trouble.
When I moved over to SIATech to teach English he also enrolled to get his High School Diploma. He wanted Alyssa to know her daddy was a high school graduate and he also needed it for his own sense of accomplishment. He was nervous about all the computer work when he started but launched into it. He was so proud of himself when he made it to Senior Projects and learned all the computer programs to use in that class.
When he graduated from here and left he was proud, self confident and looking forward to providing the best life he could for his daughter, though he knew it would not come so easily.
Juan will remain fondly in my heart as a student success story, and someone I cared a lot about. He kept in touch with me to update me on his work and school and to let me know he was doing alright for himself.

I teach at the high school and had Juan in my class his early years of high school. He really knew how to liven up a class and kept me on my toes!After he left school,for the first few years he sent messages through various kids to let me know he was okay. It is great he graduated, as I know that was his goal. I am glad he chose to share part of his life with me. I will remember that charming smile he used to try to raise his grade, not that it worked in my class, but he sure did try!
May you know he is one of my students that really touched my life as a teacher. I learned from him probably more than he did from me.
