Judith "Judy" A Lujan

Judith "Judy" A Lujan

1953 - February 3rd, 2023

Biography

Judith A. Lujan (Judy) was born in Santa Fe, NM on November 1, 1953, and died quietly at home the morning of February 3, 2023.  She was the daughter of Juan G. and Tonita T. Lujan, who preceded her in death, along with siblings Ida M. Lujan-Isaacs, Ronald J. Lujan, and Tisa P. Lujan-Wrana, brother-in-law Tony Isaacs, and great nephew Patrick A. Lujan. Judy is survived by her aunt Ana Than Povi Salazar, sister-in-law Janice L Lujan, adoptive sister Martha Oestreich, her nephews Gregory D. and Brian S. Isaacs, Ira L., Erik J. (Nicole M. Chavez), and Gabriel J.J. Lujan, great nieces and nephew Jacquelin D., Makayla J.E., and Robert J. Lujan, and many loved godchildren, cousins, and extended family.

Judy grew up in Taos riding horses, chasing cows, and hauling water alongside her siblings and many cousins. She graduated from Taos High School as an honor roll and band student.  She played the full range of saxophones but tried to only play the little soprano sax during marching band. She was also an accomplished artist, often working her Native themed sketches, such as Pueblo Deer or Buffalo Dancers, into oil, watercolor, and craypas (her favorite) paintings, stained glass, and wood burning pieces.

Judy attended University of New Mexico (UNM) in Albuquerque where she made lifelong friends Mary Russell and Danny Marquez. After UNM, Judy began working for the State of New Mexico. She worked with Motor Vehicle Division (MVD), setting up offices and training personnel around the state when computers were being introduced. After leaving the MVD, Judy returned home and became the office manager for Indian House Records. After nearly 25 years, she retired from Indian House Records to enjoy time with family, friends, and her cat, Mozart. Judy will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and loved ones, her cooking, humor, pranks, and great laugh. Most of all, Judy always lived life her way.
