Sandy,
Mike and I just received word of Larry's passing from Valerie Mayer.
So glad that we were able connect not only in Cuba, but later here in Virginia and at your surprise retirement party. Still remember Larry and Peggy trying to make some food at the Marine House when we all just arrived in Havana August 1994. Larry was very thoughtful when he brought over his old Army fatigues for the Boy Scouts to use here in Vienna, VA.
You will be in our prayers and thoughts, and we wish we could hug you in-person.
If you comeback to Washington, DC, please let us know. We always have a guest room for friends. God Bless. Peggy and Mike

Larry was quite simply one of the finest people we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. We owe him and Sandi more than they will ever realize, and we will miss him every day.

Sandi - There's nothing good about this, but we hope that you take some small comfort in the friendship and support of all of us who love you and Larry.

O marido distingido - Godspeed and save a few cold ones for when we meet again.

Sandy-
Crazy about you, crazy about life. Living life and loving you to the fullest. What more could you ask for? Larry was simply one of the very, very best human beings we've ever had the good fortune to meet.
Since the Azores in '94, the phrase "Sandy and Larry" has always created warmth in us and a smile on our faces. And the mere mention of Larry's name gives birth to a wide grin (and a dirty snicker) for me (Hank).
What a terrific couple! What a tremendous guy! A hero, on a personal level, to Mark and Eileen - and to us.
We luv ya'!
Hank and Trish

Sandy, this is for you. I talked to Rebecca, serving as you know in Ankara, and she told me the sad news. We both shared nice memories of you and Larry over an email exchange today - her in Ankara and me in Washington. Well, I just don't know what to say other than Larry was a profoundly wonderful person, as are you, and your beautiful lovely spirit will just continue be a living legacy of his own. When I remember Venezuela, which is often, I truly remember you as a silent mentor of mine, and any man who would have the wisdom to choose you as his soul mate must be a wonderful person. Know that my thoughts and Willie's thoughts are with you now. You're just great Sandi. Our love.

Larry and I worked together during the filming of the Nacho Libre movie for three months in Mexico in the fall of 2005. His exellent knowledge of Spanish, tremendous background in Special Forces, good humor, and easy converstation made him a superb member of our security team. While working together long hours each day we became good friends. Larry will be remembered and missed. JKF

I'm sadend. My Heart goes out to Sandi,Kathy,Kevin,Pat and Larry's friends. Damn. We keep putting things off with no idea of what we might be missing. Monday, 7 April, I looked at a Subaru Tribeca and wondered what kind of car you bought when you returned to the States. Larry commuted to your house in Taos from Guadalajara. On Monday I had a sip of tequilla for the first time in two years and thought of your hospitality in Guadalajara. You and Larry's family will have a place to visit in Orland, Maine as long as Cindi and I are here. We'll miss Larry. God bless you, Alvion

Served with Larry in Panama, visited Pat,Kathy and Kevin at Fort Sherman, rescued his motorcycle from the French Canal, enjoyed his master of ceremony performance at SF Dining Ins at Fort Gulick. Remember some of his exploits at Fort Bragg. Enjoyed his company when I visited Fort Leavenworth. Saw Larry and Sandi in Washington, DC. Apreciated his easy rider appearance in Indianapolis. Enjoyed his and Sandi's hospitality in Mexico. Looked forward to their visiting our Bed and Breakfast in Orland, Maine. He won't be coming. Still have some tequilla from Guadalajara. Was never bored within 50 miles of his location. Will miss him for the rest of my life. God bless Larry and his entire extended family and group of friends. He was a dedicated and competent officer and soldier. Vaya Con Dios Y Hasta Luego

Although I did not have the pleasure of meeting Mr. Salmon directly I have enjoyed the company of his children for many years. If it is true the best of ourselves lives on in our offspring I have no doubt that Mr. Salmon was a very special man I would have been very proud to call my friend. I know he will be sadly missed by his children and grandchildren!

Rebecca & Aaron Graham published a tribute .

Our hearts go out to you, Sandi, and to the whole family. We are so very sorry for your loss. To us, Larry was an inspiring person. We not only liked being around him -- how could you not? -- but we respected him for the selfless way he lived his life, for his patriotism and for his kindness. You both were so wonderful to us after we arrived in Caracas. Larry would frequently call to see if we needed a ride to the market or if he could show us around town. We have tried to learn from that kindness and reach out to others as you both have done for us. We're in Turkey now, and we're sorry that we are unable to be there for you at this trying time, but please know that you are in our prayers, and that we will miss Larry very much.

-- Aaron & Rebecca
