Lenley "Nick" Christopher Salazar

May 12th, 1984 - June 28th, 2023

Biography

It is with torn hearts that we announce the passing of Lenley Christopher Salazar (Nick Salazar), who departed us on June 28, 2023. Nick’s absence has left a profound void in our lives, but his memory will be cherished forever by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Nick was born on May 12, 1984, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Claudia Cedar and John Salazar. In 1989, Claudia married Lance Lackas, who became Nick’s father from that point forward, raising him with endless love and care until the day he passed away. Nick’s vibrant spirit, strong will, and unwavering determination brought people from all walks of life together from all corners of the country.

Nick was a loving father, son, brother, and friend. He possessed an innate ability to help others in times of need. He always went above and beyond to lend a helping hand, even if it meant sacrificing his own comfort.

Nick pursued his passions with enthusiasm and zest. Whether it was exploring the outdoors, sharing laughter and barbeques with his friends and family, or engaging in spirited gaming sessions (particularly playing Call of Duty with his friends across the country), he poured his heart and soul into cultivating meaningful connections and nurturing relationships.

Nick will be deeply missed by his sons, Christopher, Lucius, and Demetrius Salazar, and their mother Brandy Stricker. He will also be remembered by his loving parents, Lance and Claudia Lackas, his siblings Barry, Shy, and Jaecob Lackas, and his extensive extended family. Additionally, his wide circle of friends, who were profoundly impacted by his presence in their lives, will carry his memory in their hearts.

A celebration of Nick’s journey will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 1 PM to 4 PM at Camp May in the Jemez Mountains. We extend an invitation to all those who knew and loved him to join us in commemorating his life and the impact he made. The family kindly requests that donations be made to the GoFundMe page (link is listed below) that was created to ensure the presence of his children and their mother, as well as helping to cover funeral costs.

While we mourn the loss of Nick, we find peace in the beautiful memories we shared with him. His legacy of love, determination and zest for life will continue to inspire us all.

Please join us in honoring and remembering Nick Salazar. For those unable to attend the celebration of life, we kindly invite you to share your condolences and memories on Nick’s Facebook page or photos and stories here on the memorial page, providing a source of comfort and support for the family during this difficult time.

I met Nick when I worked at Giant in Los Alamos. He was always friendly and kind. I remember this most about him:

HE LOVED HIS KIDS!

These days, it's awesome to see a dad that actively participates in their kids lives. I literally felt happy when I saw them all together, that includes you Brandy!

I offer my condolences to all those who loved him.

There’s a song associated with Nick… On the Road Again by Willie Nelson. That seems rather appropriate, especially at this time. Cory and Dreamer would know immediately, but this Hass to do with taking a road trip from Oregon/Washington to Missouri for a visit. When the boys ramped up and we’re being too rowdy, I literally kicked them out onto the side of the road to burn off some energy for a while. The second time it happened, they all started singing that song, just to irritate me. It’s always been a fun and funny memory. Good luck on the road again, Nick.

Although we only knew him briefly through our daughter Jessica Martinez, Nick was a nice, friendly, very respectful and fun young man. My husband and I would like to extend our deepest condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.
