Lourdes Martinez, 92, resident of Santa Fe, NM passed away on September 26, 2021. She was born on September 13, 1929 to Nicole Lopez Montoya and Paul Montoya. She married Bernabe Martinez on July,14, 1951 in Santa Fe, NM. She is preceded in death by parents, husband, sister, Mary and granddaughter, Athena.
She is survived by sons; Jerry (Belinda), Joe, Paul (Christina), grandchildren; Nena (Joseph), Roberta (Francisco), Michael, Erica (Anthony), Andrea (Chris), Ryan (Halia), great grandchildren; Adonica, Jade, Elijah, Seth, Echo, Dejah, Aurora, Rylee and Olivia. Also, survived by Lourdes are very special in-laws, Ricardo & Aurora Martinez.
Our Lourdes was a lifelong resident of Santa Fe and her faith in God and in prayer guided her life. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Anne Catholic church and faithfully participated in the annual novenas at the Rosario Chapel and processions to the Cathedral Basilica to prepare for Fiestas. Our Lourdes was strong, independent, and walked everywhere. She was a caregiver who also took care of her sister for over 50 years. She stopped working at the age of 90, due to the pandemic, not her age or health. In her later years of life, the Senior Center was an important place for her where she exercised; had meals and played bingo with her friends. Our Lourdes adored and loved her family and is dearly missed.
The rosary will be held at the Kiva Chapel at Rivera’s Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 28, at 6:00 p.m. The mass will be held at St. Anne Parish on Friday, Oct. 29 at 10:00 a.m. and burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, November 1, at 12:45 p.m.
