Marcella A BrownSweet, Born 1947 in Ajo, Az., Marcie Brown grew up in Northern Michigan. She studied art at Central Michigan University before becoming Director of Art's International Galleries in Birmingham and Detroit. She was a founding member (1973) of Artist's North Co-operative, and owned and operated the fiber arts studio, Macra-Mania, in Charlevoix, MI.
In 1977 she married Ralph Sweet and thus became Sweet, Marcie Brown. They became residents of Taos in 1980 and ran The Party Shop at General Rental for over 30 years, providing the community the opportunity to celebrate in style. She was constantly involved in the community, volunteering for many organizations such as the Taos Artist's Organization, Taos Mountain Balloon Rally, the St. James Rummage Sale and the Taos Girl Scouts Troop.
Marcie was a lifelong artist and loved studying with many wonderful artists in Taos and Kauai. She once stated "My hope is to reflect the beauty and a bit of the humor in creation, and most of all... the joy!" You can continue to see her work in Taos by appointment at Studio Sweet, 575-758-2137.
Marcie has now joined her mother Clare, father Joe, brother Thomas, and many wonderful friends and relatives. Marcie was a mother to all young hearts who came through her door needing comfort and care. She will be dearly missed by her many children Dustin, Alena, Lisa, Sabrina, Jessica, Luz, Isa, Rio, Lawrence, Matthew, Phil, Josh, and grandchildren Kadius and Faerún. Marcie cherished and adored her beloved husband Ralph, and was blessed to pass away in his arms. He will continue to tend the lovely garden they built together.
Her funeral service will be Saturday June 4th, 2022 at 2pm at St. James Episcopal Church, 208 Camino de Santiago, Taos, NM.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the St. James food pantry.
Marcie was a lover of good food, wonderful friends and a great party. We will be having Marcie's Last Party and Life Celebration Sunday August 21st, 2022, her and Ralph's 45th wedding anniversary, in Taos, NM. All are welcome to attend.

I was saddened to hear of Marcie's passing. We were neighbors growing up and spent a lot of time at her house. We were also classmates at East Jordan High School in Michigan. We will certainly miss her. Condolences to her family. Thinking of you at this time.

Ralph and family, I’m so sad to hear of Marcie’s passing. She was so special and so loving. Her smile is the first thing I see in my mind when thinking of her. I thank God that our paths crossed as young mothers. I learned so much from her.
